Stick with the Skrine. 10-1-08 What can I say? This small wood-paneled eatery almost speaks for itself. The only decor is a collection of newspaper articles touting the menu item that has made the place famous – the one and only SkrineChop. One of my co-Lunch-in-the-Loopers ordered the SkrineChop sandwich and verified that it did in fact live up to the hype. For an $8 sandwich, it could have been bigger – the Looper that ordered it was still hungry afterwards* – but the SkrineChop was given a thumbs up nonetheless. Other menu items sampled included the red beans & rice (good but should be labeled as Spicy) and the chopless salad (not a good value for lettuce & dressing only). A nice surprise was the basket of candy sitting by the register. Nice touch, SkrineChops. Overall, our advice is to go for the pork chops and grab a Kit Kat on the way out. *this is especially concerning for this particular Looper as he is supposed to be bulking up.
