Service was ridiculously slow. It took 15 minutes to get a drink from the bar. The bacon was not fully cooked. That was my meal. My dates meal, however, was done well. At least the pancakes were good. Definitely will NOT be going back.

Overpriced and disappointing. A baseball cut steak is the upper part of a top sirloin steak. It is a rounded piece of meat at least two inches thick. Last night we ordered 2 baseball sirloin dinners, rare to medium rare; we specifically told our server we wanted them bloody, but hot. What we were promptly served were two very thin and extremely tough steaks, overcooked and tasteless. They were both less than half an inch thick at their thickest point. Mine was too tough and stringy to eat; my companion’s steak was slightly better. The white fingerling potatoes were served whole, with no seasoning. The kale was the best part of the meal. Our server was jovial, but inattentive even though there were few others diners. We had 2 sirloin dinners, one mixed drink apiece, no appetizer, and no dessert; our bill came to 96 dollars, including a 15 percent tip. I would give this meal zero stars for presentation, and negative stars for quality, flavor, and value. We will not return.

Good American Eats. We scrambled to find a place to eat after Hoyt’s had closed for a private party rather than honor our dinner reservation after a concert at the Harris Theatre. South Water Kitchen was close, and are we ever glad we found it!Good American food….we had the Buffalo Shank with bleu cheese polenta and the Short ribs with polenta. Both main dishes perfectly done. Buffalo reminds me of the flavorful beef we had back when I was a kid, not the bland corporate product of today. The bleu cheese polenta was balanced just right–enough bleu cheese flavor without being overwhelming.Good service, and personalized touches were additional reasons why we’ll eat here again!

The setting is nice and the service is friendly but slow. The omelette was over cooked, sausage was dry and the hashbrowns came out of an ore-ida bag. This was a $8 breakfast…not a $23 breakfast. The toast was good though.

From Australia, my partner and I stumbled upon this place after searching a while for food. Wonderful breakfast, mimosas and ‘Chicago style’ bloody Mary’s which was extraordinary. Made a very good impression!

A very nice break from surrounding corporate joints. My partner and I walked into this establishment after a frustrating search for local venues that we could enjoy. I ordered the Braised Pork Belly Flatbread(with dried fig jam, ricotta, arugula ). My partner ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato fries. We both shared a salad. The flat bread was wonderful, unique, and quite different and helped my disappointment over finding nothing other than chain shops. My partner had a turkey burger that was tasty, but I found (I had a bite) a bit dry, but that’s not unusual with turkey burgers. The sweet potato fries were very well done, crispy and not oily and quite a treat. The service was first rate and friendly We felt welcomed and much attention was given to us with our small order. I’d recommend this to anyone who can afford a menu that starts at 10 dollars per entree.
