Zorbas is better. I got a Greek Feta Cheese Salad and it was very soggy. Tasted like it was sitting out for a couple days and they just topped it with feta. The falafel balls in the falafel sandwich themselves were good but only half of my pita was filled and there was no tzasiki or lettuce. My husband got the gyro and he said the lamb was rubbery. ZORBAS IS SO MUCH BETTER! (Juan tabo and Montgomery)
Small casual takeout place with a few tables. Food was amazing. Allfour of us got something different and samples each others. Everything was wonderful. Get there early for lunch if you want to avoid the line but it looked like it moved pretty quick. Definitely a place to try.
Best turkey in town!. Taza features the typical fare found in any mediteranean restaurant in the loop (falafel, gyros, schwerma, etc.), but the execution here is definitely a cut above the rest. The turkey plate here is a must: the turkey itself is tender and full of flavor, but the real prize of this dish is the rice beneath the turkey that soaks up all the juices of the turkey. The falafels are also excellent especially if you happen to walk in just as they fry up a new batch.
The lines are usually out the door from 12:30pm and 1:30pm, but they do move fast, so you’ll be in and out in no time. The food is definitely worth the wait. They have oh so tender turkey, chicken shwarma, and gyro meat. They also have a great vegetarian menu with rice filled grape leaves, filafel, hummus, baba ganoush, and tabouli salad. The dining room is a bit quaint, so you’ll be sitting close to your dining mates. For desert the have a grand assortment of baclava. Great Mediteranian food all around.
Whole Lot o’ Falafel. 8-12-08 Overall, a great luncheon experience – the food is delicious & very reasonable. I had the basmati rice and lentil soup – both very tasty. My co-workers tried the falafel (house specialty) and they said it was the best this side of Istanbul. The staff is very friendly. The line for food was out the door and down Franklin St., but things did move quickly. I am not sure if this is proper restaurant etiquette, but you might want to snag a dining table while still in line for food since the dining room is pretty small. Stay tuned for my next Lunch in the Loop review, roughly scheduled for the week of September 8th.
