This is another good place to hang out near Union station before catching the train to suburbs.As the name suggest this watering hole is non Franklin very near to the Willis Tower. The place was crowded as it was a game day. The place is dark because of the dcor even for a bright evening, I suggest Al fresco if you find a spot.They had a special menu for artisanal import beers.I started with Snner Kolsch , to relive the time at Cologne. Finished with La Trappe, a white Trappist beer as I am a big fan of Belgian ales.To munch on the side was a loaded nacho platter with steak, was good. The service was good for a crowded day.
I went to Franklin Tap with four of my co-workers. All of us agreed that the food was some of the best bar food we ever had. Our waiter on the other hand, was one of the worst weve ever had. Our waiter stopped at our table twice. Once to take our drink orders, once to take our food orders. After that she avoid our table like it was the plague. I had to yell out to her to get her to bring the check (after all of us had been finished eating for 15 minutes). When she did, I noticed she put an 18% gratuity line on the tab. The menu stated that gratuity is automatically charged for parties of six or more (there were five of us). Of course, the reason she charged this was that she knew she hadnt earned it. I find this tantamount to theft. If she had done a half-decent job I would have gladly tipped well over 18%, but she had done a really terrible job. I spoke to the manager and explained the situation. He agreed to remove the 18% gratuity from the bill, but offered nothing else. No concession, no coupon, no apology, nothing. I find this more concerning than the wait staff trying to charge for a job she didnt do. The waiter was stealing to make a living. This manager was complacent with have a sleazy, incompetent staff. I will not go back to Franklin Tap again.
