This place has amazing pastas and they make it in live kitchen so you can customise your dish a bit. The pizzas are average but the pastas are a must try.
awesome, the carbonara is very tasty, the presentation is very good and the atmosphere is fine. The price is right and the quality of meal is good.
Vapiano is one of my favorite restaurants found in multiple locations around the US. There cafeteria system & their delicious food makes for a memorable experience. Their use of flavor is mouthwatering and their attention to detail and quality is incredibly respectable. I enjoy the cafeteria styled system (meaning that each person goes up to a line and request their dish). However, during the dinner rush on Friday this system was not working. Costumers, myself included, were standing and wait (because seating was full) for about 15-20 minutes. The staff, despite their rush, were very accommodating and friendly. Overall the experience was a good one. Delicious pizza & salad for only $15.
Very cool atmosphere, but the concept of using a card and having to individually order food and drink from different stations with no wait staff is not very customer friendly. Probably the stupidest concept I’ve seen in a long time. Won’t be back.
Food was great. They allowed custom dishes for the littles. However, the line for pasta was ver disorganized. We were in one line & one of the chefs came out to direct us to another one. The chef we had was very personable. Told us it was a great time to come in as they are celebrating 2 years.
Love it here!. What a great place for a casual, no hassle meal. I’ve read some of the negative reviews concerning so-called rude service. We’ve been at VaPiano’s Chicago Loop location at least a dozen times and the service has been warm and welcoming. (Listen up: sometimes the ‘tude you get/perceive is the ‘tude you project.) Plan it right, and you’ll have a nice meal in an urban setting that doesn’t set you back a zillion dollars. Order a salad and pizza at the same time, and the pizza will be done around the time you finish your salad. Would going at off-peak times make for the best experience? Perhaps. However, no matter what time of day you go, take it easy (on yourself and the staff). One other note. The pizzas are made to order — it does take time to make and bake. Have a glass of wine, enjoy the urban view (and the music) and go for it.
Food was good- but ordering system/rude staff member was a big minus. Wife and I ate there on September 17th. First timers–so we were unfamiliar with their bizarre ordering system. It was hastily explained to us as we entered. The black-haired girl working the center island that served the drinks/desserts was an incompetent SNOT. First–I ordered 2 chocolate mousse desserts. She gave me 1. I repeated that I wanted 2…she ignored my request and told me to swipe my card. I told her I wasn’t familiar with how to use the card. She then copped a MAJOR ‘tude. She did a poor job explaining how/where to use it. Very curt. Turns out the card has to be swiped over a specific spot on the counter. All well and fine–except for the fact that this spot was partially covered up by something and I had no clue where it was. I finally found it–no thanks to the snotty B**ch.The pizza I ordered was quite good. The guy taking my order/making the pizza was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is they should have some pizza seasonings on the table. Chocolate mousse was also excellent for dessert.Management needs to do a better job of training their staff on how to treat first time diners that are not familiar with their ordering system.
