My wife and I visited this joint with our two girls today, and it wound up costing over $40 plus tip. I honestly believe we got profiled (spoilers: we’re white) and were charged more. Why? They charged us $7 for four waters. I’m not talking bottled water, I’m talking a glass of tap water served with each meal. This is the only establishment I’ve ever seen charge for water. The food was great, but we won’t be returning.
Profile Pricing. I love this little place. The cooks are great, it’s cheap, the al carbon tacos are awesome. The veggie burritos too. They have some fantastic pico that is not on the menu. It’s open late, and they have good prices on ice cold beer. Great little neighborhood spot. Only one thing to watch out for. To say this delicately…there is a special additional price for non-ethnically diverse patrons. A couple of days ago I had 1 burrito, 1 quesadilla, and 2 cans of coke, it was $17. Today two of the $4.75 breakfast specials were $14.50. Keeping my receipts to show later proved fruitless. I would love to pay the price on the menu, unfortunately though, this occurs rarely at best.
