They call it Mexican street food, but more like Mexican Gastropub!. Had an amazing anniversary dinner last night at a brand new restaurant called Truco Taqueria. It’s right next to the AMC on 83 and Euclid (Randhurst). The menu is based on a Mexican Street Food, but the hip interior, fancy cocktails and gormet tacos sure didn’t make me feel like I was eating off a street cart in Guadalajara! For starters, instead of bread , they offer tortillas and a green salsa and a bean paste. Both were delicious, not too spicey. For appetizers, we shared a shrimp cerviche and an order of fresh guacamole. The shrimp cerviche is like a cold shrimp salad and was delicious. For our entrees, my wife had the BBQ pork tacos and I had the swordfish tacos. Both were great. The pork was a little spicey, the swordfish was not spicey but was delicious with a squeeze of lime on top. We ordered side dishes to go with the meal: fried plantain, roasted corn and baked beans. The corn, adorned with crema Mexicana was absolutely delicious. Besides the dinner, there is a great cocktail menu. This is a great place to hit before a movie or to watch a game or for date night.
