Empire Buffet Review. I had dined a number of times at the China Buffet. After eating, I would then stop at Di Carlo Liquors next door to replenish my beverage supply. Below are 2 reviews. China Buffet before remodeling and Empire Buffet after remodeling. At China Buffet an adult would pay $12.00 upon entering and would be given a ticket to place on a table to reserve it. People could sit wherever they liked. Everything was self serve including beverages. I enjoyed the variety of foods available and would leave a gratuity for the person who collected the used dishes. The restaurant closed for a few weeks and reopened as Empire Buffet in late June 2014. I dined at the remodeled establishment for the first time on 08/23/2014.Major structural changes had been made. There were now 2 fairly large dining rooms approximately 50 by 30 feet. Upon entering I was told that I would pay later rather than now. A hostess seated me at a booth surrounded by families with children. I went to wash my hands; the mens room had been upgraded somewhat. When I returned I seated myself at a remote booth with less commotion. The food selection was somewhat broader. I noticed that suchi and crabs in the shell had been added. There was no longer frozen custard and the beverage dispenser had been moved to a remote corner and serviced by a waitress.I helped myself to a number of dishes including Peking Duck. The duck was in small pieces and full of bones and I didnt care for the flavor. I had a second helping of food plus some sweets for dessert. When I was finished with my food, I ordered a 16oz Diet Pepsi. When I finished my Pepsi I received my check. The price of the buffet was $10.99 The Pepsi was $1.49 After tax my bill was $13.48 and I left a cash gratuity.I liked China Buffet more than Empire Buffet. In the future if I combine dinner with shopping at Di Carlos liquors, I may return to Empire Buffet but will probably search for another restaurant within walking distance.
