Cool place. Make sure you know what you want before getting in line! My 14 year old son can’t decide to save his life and had to quicky order. My 12 year old son got a plan hot dog. He said it was the best plan hot dog he has ever had. He ever liked the poppy seed bun. 14 year old son had a bacon cheeseburger said it eas good. I had the Italian beef. Very tender shaved beef with no fat. I had mine dry since I don’t like soggy buns. The bun was nice and chewy. Wish cheese would have been an option but like I said need to know what you want before getting in line. We got there at about so we missed the dinner rush.
Jimmy’s is a prominent Naperville downtown landmark at the X of Washington and Chicago avenue. When ever I passed Jimmy’s it was always full. So decided to check it out on a rare warm fall Sunday. I was seated immediately, but the service took some time.Wanted to check out a few local brews and started with Gooseisland’s Matilda. Matilda is a Belgian Style Pale Ale is fermented with the wild yeast . It has a golden sunrise color with dried fruit and a dry finish. This beer a little bit strong one with 7% alcohol.Bears were trailing 3 to 7, when I took the first sip of the beer.Ordered Dynamite shrimp as suggested by the waitress as the short eat. The dis was Crsipy shrimp, on a bed of chili lime edamame. It tasted good , but the portion size can be improved.Moved on to Green Flash soul style IPA, which was the beer of the month. I was an Orange gold beer with floral and fruity aroma and a bitter finish.By the time the check came Bears made a superb comeback to win 18-17 so I left with a happy note after a great game and beers.Update 11/1Rare Warm and sunny day , so stopped to enjoy the sun in Jimmy’s outdoor seatingMediterranean Chicken Skewer, Fries paired with Stone Saison was a refreshing Lunch
We had lunch there at 2 pm and it was reasonably busy. Our table only received half its orders-the kitchen somehow lost the other half and took over 30 minutes to produce them. The waitress did not know what to do and no manger ever appeared to solve the issue. The place was not Friday night busy so it was not excusable. No adjustment was made to our bill either. The burgers were also all overlooked and barely warm-which was odd. The onion rings and dipping sauce were delicious.
New menu is great. I use to not be able to stomach the food at this place, it was subpar bar food that never agreed with me. But since they have changed their menu (I think last year?) they not only have drastically improved menu items but also a few more health conscious options. If you haven’t been here in awhile I recommend giving it another shot.
OVER-RATED!!!! OVER-PRICED!!!19 Aug, 2011Over-rated!!! The food is not good and neither is the service. They are very stuck up with their I know Jimmy too shirts on. There are many better places to go in Naperville.
Great food, great service. Love the outdoor patio.
Loved eating out on the patio, great service and food. The grilled shrimp were perfect.
