When we heard Carsons Ribs was opening a restaurant in our neighborhood, we decided to try their delivery service from the Wells Street restaurant and we were not disappointed! The $16 Peppercorn Filet Medallions Caesar Salad was big enough for two people, featuring a generous portion of filet bits that were perfectly grilled to medium rare and as tender as butter – the super garlicky dressing made up for the lack of true peppercorn flavoring. There was an ample topping of shaved Parmesan cheese and crisp homemade croutons across the entire platter. The large side-order of cornbread ($5) was sweet, like mommas true Southern cornbread- not to be out-sweetened was the small portion of finely grated cabbage coleslaw that had the slightest hint of horseradish. The Greek potatoes ($5) were simply a baked potato, quartered length-wise, in a lemony seasoning of herbs and cracked pepper. We opted to split the BBQ Combo ($31) which came with a generous half-rack of meaty, sauce-slathered ribs, and one the best double-cut pork chops weve ever sampled thick, incredibly juicy and grilled to a perfect medium-rare-to-medium – with a perfect crust of charred sauce on top. Hands down, the best pork chop weve ever eaten! Their barbecue sauce is thick and smoky with just enough tanginess, but not too sweet, making it a perfect mop for all their meaty offerings. Were looking forward to our new neighbors in Streeterville kindly keep a bucket of rib-tips on the back of the grill for us!
Worst service ever!!!!!!. Worst service ever!! The waitress forgot about us and once I asked the waitress about the food she said she forgot and got too busy with other customers. I asked for the food again and she apologized and then went and helped out a different table. I was only noticed when I left and went up front to talk to the manager. The manager said my food was finally ready, but that was a lie. We waited and waited and waited. The manager finally came back and offered me a free desert. I told the manager I would take my food to go and pay for. It still was not ready. After waiting more she returned with my order, but there was no corn bread because they didn’t make it, the potatoes I have to cook myself because those were not done. The manager suggested I cook them in my oven at home. After waiting some more the manager comped a salad and I am at home waiting for the potatoes to cook. I have never had worse service in my life. I would give them ZERO STARS if it would let me!
Sad Not as good as it onc…. SadNot as good as it once was—- Living on the past reputation.Cole slaw still good but that isn’t enough to pay $50 each
The family always picked up ribs from Carsons as I was a child. Now I go for a great crusted steak and omg it is always done right. Carsons offers a variety of menu selections, BBQ or not, a knowledgeable staff and great food.
Price is good. Food is good. Hadn’t been there in years and now I’m kicking myself. Porkchops are out of this world!!! I should have gotten the double chop.
It had been maybe 10 years since my last meal at Carson’s. The place has barely changed. Old 80’s music playing in the background took me even further back in time…to my first steps through their doors in 1983. I guess you really can go back! The food also remains as consistently, reliably good. You certainly can find trendier places to dine in the area, but Carson’s remains a tribute to the carnivore.
