HOLY – the doughnuts here are divine. You know the supply is good when the dough is an endless fluffy dream and is a delight with or without icing. Make sure to go before noon (or as early as you can) because they only sell until they run out. Will definitely go back next time I’m in town. This is how doughnuts should be. This tiny little place produces the best doughnuts ever. I went there on one of those mornings and picked two doughnuts and a cup of coffee. Sat down outside in the sun at this little terrace in front of the shop and shared my goodies with a cute little bird. I had the old fashioned passion fruit and the vanilla glazed. Both were super tasty but I fell in love with the Vanilla glazed. So fluffy and airy, tender not oily. Big thumb up for this bakery. Prices are so affordable. So recommended.

These are hands down some of the best doughnuts I’ve ever eaten… anywhere. Their old fashioned was perfect, their straight cake are so tender, and their yeast doughnuts were the ideal density (not to mention huge). I would walk/cab it no matter the distance to get me some of these the next time I’m in town. I’m so sad I don’t live here now…

I’m crying. These were the best doughnuts I’ve ever eaten. I had heard such great things about this place, I didn’t even care there was a line wrapped around the block. I got an Old Fashioned doughnut and their special, which was a Cookies ‘n Cream glazed doughnut. Each one had just the right amount of sweetness, leaving me in a sugar coma when I finished. People say this is the best doughnut shop in Chicago… And it was. It really was.

Was dying of hunger as per my usual morning ritual… Or afternoon… or just really whenever. Discovered that the Doughnut vault which I had heard such good things about was actually incredibly close to my office! So of course I had to make my coworkers jealous. I got the passion-fruit doughnut and a dollar coffee. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a doughnut and considered it in any way shape or form a game-changer. This was the exception. Simply outstanding, I was savoring every crumb of sweet-tart glaze and the prices were completely reasonable for the literal hole in the wall that it is. I took off .5 for the much lower comparatively level of coffee. I shall without a doubt be back soon… Perhaps today?

When it comes to things like donuts, boy am i picky! I must always know whether or not they are freshly made. This place is truly amazing. It’s very hard to get there and not see a huge line outside the door. And if there is no line, they’re more than likely sold out. These donuts aren’t your average donuts. With every bite, you fall into deeper love. You try to bite in slowly to save the holy dessert, but in a matter of seconds you realize it’s already gone. There are no real words for how good and real those donuts are. butterbazaar.blogspot.com

It’s Doughnut Vault so, duh, they’re amazing!Get there before they open, especially on the weekends, to avoid the ridiculously long line – but if you do end up arriving to a line, trust me – they’re worth it.The special Eggnog Old Fashioned is my fall/winter favorite and the Buttermilk Old Fashioned and Chestnut Glazed are my standard go-tos. They also have rotating daily specials so I would definitely add a special to your box while you’re there. No longer cash only, they DO take credit cards now. lionandmaven.com
