I went there on first day and food was good. Service adequate. Went the next day and told wait was 50 minutes. Waited 1 hour and 30 minutes! They let some other group in ahead of me that had only been signed in for 30 minutes because that group was getting angry and complaining. They told me I would be next but we just left and went somewhere else. Save your time and go somewhere else.
Walked to Navy Pier last night and decided this was the place to take in a drink and app, but decided it was the place to also see the Cubs play for the evening for the pennant! The staff was great, and allowed us to maneuver into a side booth for a comfortable evening with fresh Stone Brewery IPA and Bloodymarys. The turkey meat balls were good as well as the Lobster Mac & Cheese. The real treat we enjoyed was the Salmon appetizer plate. I will return again. Great service with a busy evening, kudos to the staff.
Great Sunday brunch! Good service! The eggs and hash were awesome, but everyone should expect a good Irish pub to serve a great hash! The jam on the table was incredible as well! I recommend giving them a try.
Had the classic corned beef sandwich. This sandwich was enormous. Gave half of it to someone else since there was no way I could eat the whole thing. Next time I would get this would be at lunch when you could get a half sandwich with soup or salad. Service was alright, not the best or the worst I have ever had. Took a long time to get a beer from the bar even though we were one of 5 tables in the restaurant. We were not in too much of a hurry so it was not too big of a deal but we didn’t leave more than a 15% tip because of it.
Great local place. Had brunch here on Sunday and dinner on Monday and very happy about both meals. Fine comfort/bar food, generous helpings, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere (love the fireplace!), not expensive, what’s not to like?
Awesome lunch!. We ordered the pick 2, $10 lunch special. My salad and half Ruben were awesome. The salad dressing was light the the corned beef sliced very thin, tender, and not salty. My daughter’s lobster bisque and egg salad were also well prepared and delicious. Based on earlier recommendations, we also ordered and shared curry chips (fries). This is a MUST for anyone going to this restaurant. The sweet curry sauce is served on the side for dipping. The fries were crispy. We finished off by sharing a berry tiramisu. This dessert reminds me of an English Trifle…light and refreshing. The whipped cream was obviously made in the kitchen. I will definitely return to this restaurant. Moderately priced and delicious food….a winning combination! (The atmosphere is warm and inviting too.)
Updated 2018:Still the best Chicken Pot Pie and Fish & Chips in town! As always, start with the Curry Fries – a perfect way to fire up your taste buds.Oh My, Pot Pie!. Another gem in our new neighborhood of Streeterville!First and foremost, order the Curry Chips ($7) as your table app – hand cut frites, drowned in a coconut curry sauce with a bit of cilantro on top. Probably one of the simplest and tastiest appetizers we’ve ever had! You cannot stop eating these things! For entrees, we love the Lobster Mac & Cheese ($18) with English peas, Irish cheddar and a wonderfully-browned panko crust topping. Absolutely decadent and delish! The pulled pork BBQ sandwich ($12) is succulent and features a tangy jicama slaw under the soft, brioche bun. Folks rave over the D4 Burger ($12), but we’ve yet to try it……because the real show stopper at D4 is their Chicken Pot Pie ($16). My wife is a chicken pot pie fiend. And she has sampled them all over the United States, from Irish restaurants in the north to Paula Deen’s digs down in Savannah – and my wife swears this is THE best pot pie she has even eaten. Huge, tender pieces of chicken in a rich, white sauce filled with peas, carrots, potatoes and onions. All perfectly topped with a flakey, tender and hubcap-sized puff pastry dome. There is no way one person can eat this behemoth alone – there has to be an entire squab’s worth of meat packed into this thing. So, start with the frites, dive into the pot pie and end it all with their bread pudding ($7) featuring golden raisins, apricots, cranberries and walnuts.Great service, great host, ample portions, solid drink pours…certainly not what you think when someone mentions Irish pub fare – but that can be a good thing.Update Jan. 15 – the Curry Chips are now served with a hot bowl of curry sauce on the side, no longer poured over your fries back in the kitchen. Now you can drench till your heart is content.
