My trip to the area was complete; and all I had left to do was eat lunch at the airport before flying back home a couple hours later. Midway didn’t have many offerings. Since I had seen a Harry Caray’s at both Lombard and in Chicago, and there wasn’t one where I lived, I figured I’d have my last meal in Chicago there. The place was packed but I was seated quickly enough. The tables were close together, leaving only narrow aisles barely wide enough for carry-on rollaways. The noise was at a dull roar. The service was OK if a bit scattered; once I was given someone else’s food, and another time the server wasn’t sure if my meal was actually my meal and took it away to check before bringing it back. I ordered a Holy Cow! at medium rare, with fries and a Blue Moon. The sizable burger was perfectly cooked, but a bit cool. Guess it was sitting a bit before being given to me, taken away, then given again. There were plenty of mushrooms and onions atop the cheese and meat; sadly the bun failed the endurance test and quickly began shredding within three bites. The plate had a decent amount of steak fries, but were oddly tasteless. I bet duck fat would have perked them right up. The meal was filling and of a good size, and for a restaurant in Chicago and an airport, the cost wasn’t too outrageous. The restaurant experience was average, which is OK, since I wasn’t expecting greatness.
