It’s an above average Mexican restaurant, there’s no doubt about that. The entrees are very small but pretty good. The appetizers, (guacamole, queso, and salsa) are very tasty.

This is our second dining experience at Frontera Grill. My friend and I love watching Mexico–One Plate at a Time, so Frontera Grill has been on our radar for a while. We stopped in for lunch before a wedding downtown that night. It was busy, but not crowded. Our server was attentive, and our food was great. I really enjoy the feel of the bar area. The brunch menu had a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. I had the carnitas tacos, and my husband had a plate with carnitas and chorizo. Everything was excellent–I would recommend a brunch/lunch visit. silverspoonlog.wordpress.com

Get there early – a Queue forms quickly. We arrived about 4:40 pm not thinking about the opening time which was 5:20 pm. This place was recommended by a work colleague. When we arrived, there was a woman already there who was a regular customer. She told us about other premises run by the same owner Rick Bayless, and said that in the Summer the queue can go around the corner. Now is mid winter and indeed while we were queuing it expanded to about thirty people. Eventually, the doors opened and we were shown to our table. Our table was by the wide open door and we were greeted by icy winds. I asked to be moved to another table which they did. Myself and two companions ordered different dishes. The goat dish we ordered had to be reconsidered as we were told later that the goat was ‘off’. So two fish dishes and one beef dish were the main orders. and I also ordered the Classic Frontera Ceviche. The food was superb. I can’t say enough about the variety and depth of flavour. Presentation was excellent and as usual, after having our food served, watched others and thought how it would be nice to try that too. I had a brandy infused hot chocolate for dessert and yes a vanilla ice cream as well. My companions just had hot chocolate. I could not criticise the food at all and here comes the ‘but’. The restaurant has overhead fans and one of them was directly above me which made me put my coat on to eat. I mentioned it to one of the waiters and he said hold on. I didn’t realize he meant ‘brace yourself’ and not ‘I’ll deal with the problem straight away’. And my second gripe is the incessant bass beat in the background making it difficult to speak and be heard. I am delighted I went there and experienced the food. I won’t be going back again but only because of the ambiance. Maybe in the Summer I could appreciate the cooling fan and if I went alone I wouldn’t have to shout to be heard over the background noise romikabhat.wordpress.com

This is a very beautiful restaurant with dark, deep Mexico decorations. The bar area was the a happening place with lot’s of very pretty drinks being served to muy bonita senoritas. The food was good and just a fun atmosphere to break tortillas with friends.

Wow! Beautiful and delicious fresh Mexican flavours and top quality ingredients. Even the meats for the tacos could stand alone as a meal, so magnificent were they. And the tortillas were soft and tender too. Divine ceviche, warm service and a charming ambience
