Something I will always remember!. I had to write a review on this place because I still talk about it. I live in Alaska now but in the mid 90’s I went here while living in Chicago and fell in love with their jumbo shrimp! I still have not found shrimp like it. The neighborhood was sketchy back then but this is a flawless diamond in the rough! If I ever make it back to Chi-town this will be my first stop!
Unimpressed. Was hoping for true Goose Island shrimp shack shrimps like Joe’s Fisheries of old, instead I got over breaded and just OK shrimp. The place smelled of heavy insecticide as if just sprayed down and the service was indifferent and bordered on rude. I wont be returning as there are dozens of better places around town that do it much better. burtsfoodblog.wordpress.com
The BEST Shrimp!. I’ve lived in Chicago all my life, but had never been to Goose Island until today. The shrimp were fabulous! The jumbo shrimp are as large as your palm! Breaded and seasoned to perfection, they are tender and tasty – with or without the Goose Island Sauce. The catfish was fried to perfection as well. The prices were reasonable. With their late hours, Goose Island is a good spot to hit for some nice, greasy food after a night of drinking and dancing.
Best shrimp ever. Our entire family has been coming here for over 25 yrs . I drive 30 mile to pick some shrimp up.
I’ve been eating here ever since 1988, and the shrimp still taste as good as the first time I tasted it. The prices also has remained in the same range. Giving how everything nowadays is over-priced this lil shrimp house is one not to miss if you like good shrimp and fair prices. Sure you can splurge with your fav dime piece and go to Red Lobster, but I hope that’s all you have planned for the evening.
Great fish and awesome clam strips
