In town for a conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and was told to give Grand Lux Cafe a try since it was in walking distance.Ordered the fish of the day, which was salmon. It was wood grilled and served with mash potatoes and I picked sauted spinach as the other side.Salmon was seasoned well and did not need any type of sauce. It was a nice sized fillet but the center was thick and a little dry. But it was good. The mashed potatoes were excellent. Im a lover of spinach but did not care for the sauted spinach at all.We also ordered the beignets for dessert. These large balls of doughy goodness were fried just right and served with 3 sauces….a Jack Daniels creme sauce, a warm chocolate sauce and a raspberry sauce. The beignets can be eaten without the sauce because they are just that good. Just make sure to order them before youre finished eating your meal as they make them fresh.
