The lobster roll while ball-achingly expensive ($30) is pretty good and comes with a really nice pile of crispy deep-fried onions. The pickles do nothing for the roll but I enjoyed the whole thing all the same and will probably go back as it’s the best lobster roll I’ve had in Chicago thus far. The seared tuna salad, however, is uninspired and pretty average – don’t bother. Lastly, the octopus was yum but midget-sized.
Clam chowder was delicious and wish it was a larger portion. Fish tacos, on the other hand, were a big disappointment. It tasted bitter and a little on the salty side. Service was good.
GT Fish & Oyster was not on my Weekend in Chicago schedule, but I am just glad that I ended up coming here thanks for a quick search on my phone. We were looking for a place for a pre dinner snack and drinks as the wait for a table at Frontera Grill maybe taking forever. GT had a communal table that can sit the 6 of us and was happy to serve us whatever we want!A great cocktail and beer list made all of us happy. And of course we ended up ordering some oysters from their daily menu. A few appetizers and even the clam chowder.Service was excellent and attentive. Definitely worth coming back for some more oysters and a drink or 2 next time I am in town!
What an amazing variety of delicious food. The raw oysters are awesome. The cold plates were not too exciting but the hot plates were fantastic. From my favorites, the oyster PO’ boy sliders and mac’n’cheese to the halibut and octopus, everything was tasty – and reasonable. Four of us are and drank quite well for $80 each. Try the key lime dessert!
Where’s the food?. My husband and I ate at Gt Fish and Oyster tonight and thought it was ridiculously priced for the minuscule amount of food we received. Everything was good, but apparently we ordered the wrong things, because everyone else seemed to be eating while we were trying to breathe in the aroma of the crumbs we had just parceled out to each other, so that we would not go home starving. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Chicago and abroad, and I think this one must be all hype.
