This was my second time at Portillo’s. I went with the Portillo’s standard beef hot dog with everything and fries. I was behind one other person in line to place and pay for order but it was 25 minutes before they called my number. Lots of antsy bodies waiting for their food. After standing there, I’d wished I’d ordered a chocolate cake slice (and everything else on the menus since I was so hungry) but wasn’t about to risk additional wait. Each category of food (hotdogs, non-hotdog food, desserts, etc.) seemed to have it’s own order station and I’m not sure if you’re able to order everything you’d like at once?Great restaurant style and loved the beef hotdog. Hope to avoid the crowd when I have the chance to visit again.

My favorite brunch dishes are the lobster omelette, the burger & shrimp with fried green tomatoes. Very good quality ingredients. Prices aren’t super high, which makes this spot a great value in River North.

Talk about awful service. We waited an hour last night for a table of two. During that time, we saw group after group sit down. The hostess said she would call us when our seat was open. During that hour, I never saw her pick up the phone. There were six completely open tables, so I asked her how long the wait would be. She said she was only 2/3s through her list, so it would be awhile, but that we should go to the bar and get sinks while we wait. Really? Seems like hey just want to get more money from us. We left and went to Bull and Bear right down the street. We were seated right away, and our hostess and waitress were so friendly. Needless to say, I will not be returning to the Hubbard Inn.
Dampening Our Night on the Town. I felt compelled to write this review after an awful experience. We arrived at the location 9/1/13 and sat down. The water came right away and we ordered our drinks, but we never received them. We waited the customary 15 minutes at our table yet no word on the drinks. Finally, a server came by and said our drinks were coming up. Yet another 15 min went by and nothing. It ruined the whole mood and we essentially waited a total of 40 minutes to receive nothing. Another table received their drinks even though we ordered before them so I thought that was strange. We ended up leaving and it really put a damper on our night on the town.
Can’t judge the food as I only went for drinks, but the place gets incredibly crowded and uncomfortable. Can’t hear anything over the music and crowd rumble.
Started qith the spinach and goat cheese salad, very good and could be a meal. Seated Scallops were excellent, but I would skip the pumpkin pure and sub parsnip pure. Partner had the ravioli, also excellent.
