A hidden Gem. If you find yourself in the area of Division and State on a Friday or Saturday evening and don’t want to wait an hour to get seated for dinner, sneak up Dearborn one block north of Division to Goethe St. There you will find, Mario’s Table. For the last three years I have worked a booth at the Flower Show on Navy Pier, and stayed in a boutique Hotel on Dearborn. Mario’s has proven to be my go-to restaurant for it’s quality and service. The staff are warm and attentive, the food has never disappointed and since it is more of a locals establishment, the prices are very reasonable.31 Mar, 2013Home away from Home. On the advice of a bellman at the Hotel Indigo, I dined at Mario’s Table on Goethe Street, just one block north of Division on Dearborn Parkway. Having dealt with fine wine, as a consultant, for over 19 years, I have also become familiar with find dining. From being greeted at the door, to the service and food I was unable to find a single aspect that was not done to near-perfection!! In a period of 9 days I ate there 4 times and was saddened when my stay in downtown Chicago came to an end. I sure hope that next year my travels will take me back to this neighborhood so I can try the rest of the menu there. Mario and his staff are dedicated to making one feel at home from their first visit so much so that you will want to go back often.

Truly delicious, authentic old world Italian dishes served up with impeccable service in a fun Chicago atmosphere.

Pate99. I was staying at The Hotel Indigo and Maryann, the bartender recommended Mario’s to me. I was not disappointed. It was way beyond what I expected. I sat at the bar and listened to my server’s recommendations. Her first was to have the Ceasar Salad and it was wonderful. The next item was the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. I have always felt this was the dish to tell how good an Italian Restaurant was. If it is good, try the other dishes. In this case, the Spaghetti was as good as I have ever bought. It was so good that I am thinking about going back to Chicago to see if it was really that good. If you go to Chicago, Mario’s should definitely be a place on your list to eat. Service and food are outstanding.

Great food in a relaxing atmosphere.Very nice bar, wine selection and friendly staff.Reasonably priced. Recommend the thin crust pizza and Veal Marsala.

Yum! The lobster ravioli was so delicious! We split a great bottle of wine that paired great with all of the great pasta. We also loved their toasted ravioli and specials of the day.

Decent, but wouldn’t return. The service here was top notch. Timely and just the right amount of attentiveness. The food though, was just OK and not worth the size of the bill. The items sounded really good on the menu, but the visual appeal and the taste were letdowns. The salads had a nice variety of items, but were cut in small pieces and piled high on a plate that barely fit the contents, so hard to eat without food spilling out onto the table. And the quality was OK, but nothing great about the taste. The entrees also were OK, but tasted the same as things we could prepare at home with little effort. Overwhelming garlic, too. Atmosphere also was fine, but nothing to return for.

Awsome. Great service and atmOsphere. Packed at 10 pm on Saturday night but we got a table for 7 fault quickly. Get the calimari combo, it is excellent. Will come back for sure.
