This place does some serious steaks. The meat is thick, juicy, tender and mouthwatering…can’t complain. The selection of sides make the steak more fun to eat – lobster potato mash, creamy gnocchi and truffle butter especially go well with the red meat. Truffle butter = $15 a dollop and it’s not printed on the menu. Make sure to give the restroom a visit, because it is very special 😉
Great! Ate here on one of my visits to Chicago because reservations to another restaurant fell through and so glad they did, I was so pleased by the modern and elegant dcor and not to mention the food. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to eat after roaming the city.
Underwhelming at $100 per person:Service was very underwhelming despite a slow Thursday night. At $100 per person, can’t you expect some attentiveness? Our waiter was very rushed and talked so fast we couldn’t understand some of it (half the tables were not occupied at that point). Despite a resemblance to Nathan Lane, he was no delight. Once he disappeared so did the service. I had a ridiculously bent fork (who set the table?) and my wife had to request a new knife (haven’t they ever seen this before? A restaurant at half the price would likely have noticed this on their own). Our salt shaker was ridiculously clogged from moisture. When a new one was requested, it was grabbed from a neighboring table and barely worked too — plus no comment or apology. The baked potato weighs in at one pound! And is suggested for two..okay… They were right about sharing, but the condiment tray would have been just about right for one with a normal size potato… ridiculous for two. I tried forever to get our assistant waiters attention, but he never scanned his tables. I made eye contact with a woman serving adjoining tables and tried to indicate a need for assistance but she immediately turned away. By the time I got more sour cream, my steak was gone and my potato cold.RUTH CHRIS ACCROSS THE STREET!
Absolutely fantastic. Took my in laws and my parents there for a Christmas gift and they loved it. All the food was cooked to perfection and the butter cake was unbelievably good. Try it!
Great atmosphere and great food! Live band with great music but I hope you like eating in the dark because you can barely see your plate. I would come back but there are better places in the city.
It’s ok. I think there are at least 3 other steak houses in Chicago you can go to for a better steak.
Phenomenal staff…our waters did a great job, they were very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. The atmosphere was great, the band in the bar was awesome. The lighting is very dark, so bring a flashlight to read the menus. The food is very average….appetizers were ok, the shrimp and tuna tartar was average, the scallops were excellent. Wedge salad was great. Now for the steaks….I would think a premier steakhouse would season their meat, even just with s&p, but they didn’t. The wagyu tomahawk was good, just lacked seasoning, the petite filet was well cooked, just bland, the bone in ribeye was disappointing, lacked flavor and even for a ribeye was was way to fatty of a cut. In my opinion these steaks were not even close to worth the prices they ask. The sides were good with the exception being the Brussel sprouts which were not good at all. The truffle gnocchi and lobster mash were very rich, but good. The butter cake was phenomenal, I would return for that, but I prob won’t eat another steak here.
