If you are from outside of the Chicago area and have little knowledge of an Italian Beef sandwich, do yourselves a favor and head straight to one of the many Portillo’s around Chicago and its suburbs.I was initiated years ago and it is a must stop when I’m in town (or when someone visits from Chicago they are almost required to load up for us in their suitcases).I’m not a fan of Chicago style hotdogs (sorry) but those in our family that are rave about Portillo’s execution of that concoction as well.Italian Beef at Portillo’s is like no other and we’ve tried others.
