I always stop by there for a beer and get a hot dog from the downtown dog next door. They have plenty beers on tab which I like. If you want to sit for conversation than I would not recommend it because this place is loud with music and people. Sound like a traditional Irish bar. So it is an Irish bar. Patio for summer is really cool to sit out and enjoy sun in the heart of downtown
Meh…it’s a sports bar technically within Loyola’s campus, according to Google Maps. The beer list is alright, they have sports on…I’ve honestly never stayed here longer than half an hour. I’m sure it has more redeeming qualities, I just haven’t seen them.
We ended up at Pippin’s on the recommendation of our hotel valet. Its vintage facade and dark interior drew us for an authentic pub experience. Pippin’s offers a wide range of tap beers, local, domestic and imported. Revolution Porter from Chicago got our approval. Our bartender served us real Chicago dogs from the next-door weinery. Open on and off since 1973, and a bar since the 30’s, apparently Pippin’s holds the oldest liquor license on Rush street.
Best bloody Mary ever!
