My family and I have been going to Ron of Japan for longer than I can remember. I always remember going in there as a kid with my parents and grandparents cousins, and aunts and uncles, and the manager or owner always remembered my grandfather and addressed him by his name. This place has a great atmosphere. When I was a kid whenever someone would have a birthday there I remember one of the chefs or guys from the back coming out and doing some sort of ceremony with a Katana which I thought was very cool. They cook all your food right in front of you and the skill and showmanship of the cooks is something to see. We always enjoyed our experience at this restaurant and everyone who enjoys Japanese American cuisine and hibachi style cooking should try this place out at least once.
This restaurant was the worst that I have been to in a long time. First off the salad comes with a maynase dressing instead of the standard ginger dressing. Our very unenthusiastic cook cooked our steak well done instead of medium like we asked, and the $3 extra fried rice consists of this spam/beef mixture 1 egg and white rice with a smidgen of soy sauce. Oh and be warned that if you get shrimp it comes with this crazy butter/egg sauce on top. Very disappointing.

The only thing more thing more uninspiring than watching the food be prepared, was the food itself. It’s a sad commentary when the best part of an expensive meal was the bowl of soup you get at the start of the meal. By all means, avoid this place at all costs
Omg. This place has been the highlight of my Chicago visits since I was little. All 6 courses of their crown meals are delicious. I always get the crown shrimp meal though because I don’t eat red meat. J give this place 5 stars.
The food is very poorly prepred. I wouldn’t eat it if they gave it away.
