We had a 4 hour layover so we thought we would sit down and have dinner. We ordered our drinks and when the waitress came back with them we ordered our appetizer and entree. 25 minutes later they delivered everything at the same time. So we ate out hot appetizer and our cold entree. Waitress seemed oblivious to what she screwed up.

We first went to Roy’s in HI, and made sure to visit the location near us in Chicago. We have been back many times and each time the food and service are excellent! It’s pricy, but at less than going to Oahu to get a wonderful experience!
Roy’s rocks! Jared is by far the BEST bartender in Chicago! He mixes anything from the bar to perfection! Roy’s signature Mai Tai is refreshing and very tasty. Their featured apps on the Aloha hour menu are divine. This is a must visit bar!!
Roy’s Rapture. Roy’s had everything I wanted in a restaurant – amazing food, friendly and professional service and a casual yet polished atmosphere. The miso soup had a modern and clever twist. It was served with sauteed leeks, diced shrimp and glass noodles in the fanciest bowl you’ll ever have miso soup out of, not to mention the biggest. The char grilled tuna was served rare and deliciously spiced so that it was smooth and velvety on the palate. The hot English mustard and alternating butter sauce was a refreshing change from standard wasabi. Rhett, the Chef even came out to say hello! Absolutely wonderful. I will definitely head back to Roy’s when I’m in Chicago next.
Come for the cocktails, Stay for the food, Live for the Desserts. There is nothing to dislike about this restaurant and so many things to like. The drinks are works of art that taste amazing. Who would have thought that a cucumber martini could taste so good!It was very difficult to pick a fish entree with so many excellent choices. I will be back to try the other ones, but the salmon was amazing. For dessert I tried both the lava and upside down cakes. They were to die for.Follow up: I have been back to this restaurant two additional times since my first experience. The food and service just keep getting better. My friends are all red meat eaters and it is difficult to pull them away from Gibson’s, Keefer’s or Mastro’s. On the rare occasion that I am able to steer them to Roy’s they have been blown away by the steaks and the reasonable prices compared to the steakhouses listed above. We have also never had to wait to be seated. Roy’s would probably be more popular if they hired cute, young female servers. But I am very happy just the way it is. I will keep coming back for the food and the great service.
Ambiance is great. It looks much better on the inside than you would think from just walking by. The food was excellant. Try some sushi as an appetizer, it’s delicious. They also have a summer price fix menu which is 3 courses for $35 which is a steal. They also have a great a la carte menu. I really liked this place. My only complaint would be that the service was slow and that there was too big of a wait between each course. Don’t worry though, the bill will come out the second you take the last bite of dessert.
