I thought this place was great. The serving size was generous considering the low price. We were staying nearby & filled up on deep dish earlier in the day, so this was our perfect dinner.

I just don’t get the appeal that this place has for so many people. The soup is ok, but, I mean it’s soup. For just soup and bread for me the price isn’t worth it. I will say one thing though: holy c*** is it hot. So you never have to worry about that being an issue. I guess I’m more of a fan of Soup ‘R Crackers ; p

Best soup in the city!!! Everything I had here has been amazing. Good luck going back to panera or corner bakery for soup after having soupbox.

Perfect Summer Eatery!!!. You wouldn’t think with a name like The Soupbox that this is THE place to enjoy lunch or dinner on a hot spring/summer day, but it is! They have the most amazing salads (my favorite is the Caesar Heart). I have to have dessert at the end of each meal so I either get a gelato (omg) or an Italian ice (when they become Icebox during the summer) which is made with fresh fruit. You are not going to find a place with fresher ingredients or a friendlier staff. If you haven’t tried The Soupbox yet for a cool, crisp summer meal you are missing out!

Awesome choice of soups, 12 fresh ones made daily. I had the chicken chili and fresh sourdough bread, really tasty.

Soup for you!. If this place doesn’t have your favorite soup, then you’ll find a new one here! The only negative thing is there are so many choices that it was hard to pick just one!

Hooray for Soupbox!. My friend and I decided to check it out since it was the only thing we could find in the area that wasn’t high-end or a big chain (nothing against chains…we were just looking for something new). Luckily, this place was a wonderful surprise.Soupbox has the friendliest staff of any restaurant, high or low end, that I have been to in Chicago. They know all of their soups and can make recommendations, and you can even sample a few of the soups if you are having trouble deciding. Tell them it’s your first time there and they’ll practically dote on you!I had the lobster bisque, which is apparently their signature soup. It was (honestly) the best soup I have ever tasted. SO good, so creamy and rich. And it was just the right temperature, too…not so hot I had to wait three minutes to start eating. The one negative — the bread bowl wasn’t worth the extra cost. Just get your soup in a cup.
