OMG! The place is dripping in charm and class, and then the food….holy cow. Delicious!!
Even southern people will like.. Very authentic regional cuisine. We loved it and will be back. The changing daily offering of deviled eggs would be worth it alone. Had the duck and catfish and impressed with both.
Great restaurant. A must eat in Chicago. From a true southerner, this is southern food at it’s best.
The food was really good, but the service wasn’t great. Definately try the fried chicken, and leave room for the pecan pie. Totally amazing.
Great food but where’s the joy?. Let me say that the day after I left this restaurant I wanted to eat the same exact meal again. The shrimp and grits were perfect. As was the catfish, Mac and cheese and asparagus. So why not return? Well I probably could get better service at the Popeyes down the street. this is an upscale restaurant how about a staff that looks like they enjoy being there. Lets star with the host. We show up on time for a reservation can’t even get a warm greeting. I can go to a roadside diner and get a surly waitress, but I don’ expect it in a place like this. And here is a hint to the owner if you have an open kitchen have the chef smile and look out at the table once in awhile. In short good food, we didn’t feel anybody cared we were there.
A true culinary experience. The upstairs has great ambiance. Our waiter was professional but fun. We tried a ton of stuff. The fried green tomatoes with chorizo were a favorite for our table. The pickle platter was also delicious. Be careful of the wine list. The bottle prices are often more expensive than if you just order by the glass.
The best!. We love this place. Art Smith even came out and greeted us. My #1 restaurant!
