The beer list here is insane. If you have even a passing interest in craft beer, you absolutely must stop in. Stay for the great cheese curds and killer burgers. strandedinchicago.com
Burgers are a thing here in Chicago and Bad Apple does it up with some killer combos of toppings, quality meats and delectable cocktails and beers to wash it all down. They’ve been in the neighborhood about 5 years now and I can’t remember a time that they have disappointed me. northandred.com
Fried Cheese Curds. These put Wisconsin to shame, by far the best and freshest cheese curds. A light breading – not that tough stuff that is completely adhered to the cheese itself
Happy times at The Bad Apple. I love the Bad Apple and go there all of the time. The beer selection is amazing. If you like draft beer there are tons to choose from and they are very nice about letting you sample ones that interest you. The food is pretty amazing comfort food. The El Chupacabra is one of my favorites. It is a burger with goat chili, garlic, goat cheese, and avocado. I love their poutine, which is fries with cheese curds and gravy. The beer and food definitely make it worth eating at The Bad Apple, but what keeps me coming back is the service. Everyone works as a team. You have your server checking on you, you have the bar staff checking on you…no fewer than five people have looked in on our table every time we go there. And everyone is extremely nice and helpful. Whoever hires and trains the staff there does a great job.
Really eclectic pub. He menu options for food and drink are high quality and unique. The seasoning options for fries were great! Definitely a good option for a group or couple.
Great beer selection and awesome burgers! Must try the fries with gravy and make sure to save the leftover gravy for your burger fries. Enjoy!
Outstanding. After a day at the Shedd Aquarium and doing the Mile, we were famished. But we didn’t want to dine out downtown as I had a hankering for a burger. We looked to the outlying area as we headed back to the hotel. We were concerned as it was almost 10:00P.M and that’s usually closing time for most restaurants, but we found the Bad Apple. When we walked in, the place was packed mostly with the younger crowd and we were seated. The menu was very creative with several unique burgers such as Elvis’s Last Supper – bacon and peanut butter which I thought was interesting and tempting. But, I settled for the Slow Burn – a burger with chilies and onions sauteed in Belhaven Scottish Stout and it came with bacon and white cheddar. My girlfriend ordered the Bad Apple, there basic lettuce, tomato and cheese burger. For starters we ordered the Charcuterie – a platter of meats from Genes sausage shop and cheeses served with various garnishes & toasted pretzel bread. The apple kraut and the meats were the stand out pieces on the platter. The meats were very smoky and pretzel bread was very tasty. The cheeses were decent as two of them were so mild that I really didn’t detect any flavor. Both burgers were cooked to perfection and my burger was indeed the slow burn as my mouth started to burn with bite after bite. But the burger was so good and the cold draft kept the burning under control. Both burgers were full of flavor and gut busting at best. I would recommend the Bad Apple as a late night place for the late night carnivore. The beer list is long and full of small local and Midwestern micro breweries. The restaurant is well designed and the wait staff was attentive and helpful with beer selection and the menu. I’ll go back again whenever I’m in Chicago.
