Jacisan. Have been going to Petey’s for the past 35 years and never had a problem with management….this year we (3 couples) chose to go for New Year’s for the second time. We were seated at a table off the main dining room in a corner next a door used as a second exit. We assumed that this door would be closed for the evening since they had closed off the other door in the bar area. People started to come in thru this door and with the extremely cold weather, we were hit with blast of cold and blowing snow. I mentioned to the new (to us) male manager and asked why they were letting people in ….he was very rude in his answer and stated that was the way it was….the main entrance has an enclosed entry with doors to the hostess desk but the had seating in our area 2 ft from the diners…unacceptable! Old management would have addressed the problem right away ……food good ..new management lacking!
This place went downhill a few years back, but then they remodeled and also greatly improved the service and quality. After trying again we have sine added peteys back into our rotation.
Not what I remember. 15 years ago I used to frequent Petey’s II all the time. I remember the excellent food, great service and great atmosphere. This week I had a visitor in from Atlanta and decided to take him there for dinner. We were both very disappointed. Wait staff was friendly enough, but a bit rough around the edges and not up to what you would expect from Petey’s. I could have over looked that but the food was really bad. The veggies were cold and tasted funny? I was actually worried we might get sick from them. All steaks were way over cooked and the meat cut was not tender. Even the olive and relish trays brought out first were sub-par looking and tasting old. Bottom line is ALL the food was very bad and i was very surprised. I will not be returning for another 15 years at least.
Best Restaurant in the South Suburbs. Peteys is our favorite restaurant in the south suburbs. We frequent it often. Compared to other restaurants in the area you get more for your money. Relaxing dining atmosphere, excellent and friendly wait staff, and most importantly good food. You can’t go wrong with any of their steaks or seafood. Their fried zucchini is thinly sliced and very lightly breaded — delicious! Wine is reasonably priced per glass – $4.75 to $6. The online menu neglects to mention that the price you see next to each entree includes — fresh relish tray, macaroni salad, cole slaw, cucumber salad, rolls and breadsticks, soup or salad, choice of potato, dessert of either ice cream, sherbet or rice pudding and coffee or tea. Where else can you get a New York strip steak with all the extras for about $23 or broiled salmon with all the extras for $17?
Great Place to Dine!. My coworkers and I went to Petey’s for lunch. The entrees were delicious. We ordered Peteys Special Salad, Greek Salad, Petey Burger, and the Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich. The manager, Debbie, who greeted us was wonderful…friendly and very welcoming. Worth a mention…she was also very helpful in planning and coordinating our upcoming business meetings which will be in their banquet room. We also go to Peteys for drinks after work. ..nice pub atmosphere. Past experience shows that Peteys has never failed us.Highly recommend for lunch and dinner [even those special occasions when you need a private room].
Best Kept Secret in South Suburbs. My friend and I were fortunate to have had lunch here today! I had corned beef & cabbage which is a Thursday special and my friend had a hamburger. We both thought the food was outstanding!!! The waiter had personality and was attentive to say the least! No complaints here. Petey’s is the best kept secret in the south suburbs!!! I have been living in Mokena 10 years and have never been to this restaurant until today. Will definitely be coming back and telling all of my younger friends!!! The seniors have known about this place and are keeping it under their hats!!!!
Bad Marsala. Petey’s was crowded and they were short of waiting staff. The olives on the relish tray tasted bad but in all it was a good idea. The Chicken Marsala was horrible. It had too many onions and the onions were not cut right they were way too big and it had onion shell in it! It barely had Marsala wine sauce on it and the Noodles were over-cooked and stuck to my finger that is how bad it was. I got sick from the dinner and will NEVER go back there again. When I told the Waitress about it and showed her .. she shrugged her shoulders and said oh well I guess we are not good at making that dish. We are not from that country! What type of explanation is this? She never brought the manager nor did she attempt to resolve the problem.
