I love this place. I really hope it survives in spite of its relatively bad (low traffic) out of the way location. They really do try harder, and in my experience the food has been exceptional and excellent value. Service is friendly and generally quite good. Refreshingly simple yet modern decor. The menu has changed in the past few months, but there’s a lot to like. The carrot cake is incredible. Another thing I like is that the portions are realistic size, not the typically huge ones found at a lot of other places, which I find insulting and a way of charging you more for food you might not eat.I wonder if they had some live music such as piano or acoustic guitar on say Friday and Saturday nights if that would draw people in — the lively, reverberant acoustics of the place could be ideal.
Went there for lunch. My husband had the hamburger. It had one wilted piece of romaine, one slice of tomato that was the size of a half dollar and a few rings of sliced onion. The presentation was horrible, the plate was barren. I had the Reuben. There was barely an eighth pound of meat on it (one quarter pound is the standard for this sandwich), roughly one tablespoon sauerkraut and only one slice of swiss so after the sandwich was cut, it only covered half of the sandwich portion. The coleslaw had more dressing than cabbage. Again, a barren presentation. Our waiter was more concerned with keeping the owner and the visitors at his table served than us. He never came back to check on us after the food was delivered. He passed my husband’s empty coffee cup three times-with the coffee pot in his hand. We couldn’t even get his attention as he rushed off to get yet something else for the owner’s ever revolving cast of visitorsWe left feeling we paid upscale prices for poor service and food that was prepared & presented barely above fast food quality.

Stopped here for lunch with 3 other people. The restaurant was more modern than you’d expect & their was a fully stocked bar as soon as you walk in. We were seated immediately & then waited and waited. Service was very slow for how empty the restaurant was. I ordered a special of the day…a frittata. While it was good it was also smothered in so much cheese I had to scrape a fair amount off. They also brought out two huge pancakes as a side. However, these were not stated as to come with the dish nor did our waiter let me know. Now I know…oh my gosh, free pancakes. But given the option I would have just not had them or asked for something else so as not to waste. The frittata was large, the pancakes didn’t match the dish. I feel like toast would have been a much better counterpart.
We stopped into Grove Kitchens and it really exceeded my expectations. The menu had really interesting options that made me want to come back even before our good arrived. I ordered ratatouille crepes with goat cheese. The portions were very generous and delicious. Nice atmosphere, actually nicer than I expected, and was very clean. They even had a sit-at bar and have $5 happy hour specials m-f. I’ll be returning to try their dinner menu which sounded great!
We came on the recommendation of someone who had dined here 3x in the first month it was open.Everything was very good and the ingredients were fresh. I especially liked the sauce for the mussels, which was a little spicier than your average garlic and white wine sauce. The Ahi Tuna Wrap was good, but I think I’d prefer it unwrapped, as the tuna and avocado were very fresh and a little lost in the wrap. We also had the andouille sausage, BBQ, red pepper quesadilla which was a great combination of ingredients and had a lot of flavor. For dessert, definitely get the chocolate stout cake made with Guinness. Delicious. Overall a good experience in an elegant, new space. Our server was very nice and attentive. We’ll definitely be back.
Atmosphere is good food isnt the best. My husband and I both had lunch entrees and they were dry and missing ingredients we asked for. Fries tasted old and really greasy. My dad had breakfast and he thought it was great. Prices were not worth th quality
