EXCELLENT. We have eaten here several times and tried almost everything on the menu. The food has always been well prepared. The choice of wines is excellent for Rockford. If you are looking for a small, quaint place to eat this is it.
What’s the difference between eating at Five Forks and a bottle of teriyaki sauce??? Answer: The price! :(. If you want a teriyaki Pannini go for the veggie Pannini. Horribly made! Mozzarella e portabella don’t stand a chance to be tasted drowned in teriyaki sauce! When asked if everything was ok, I said that the teriyaki was overpowering. I received a rude ok. Seconds later I was asked if the meal was finished I said yes then the bill arrived…no more conversation. This is one of the best that Rockford’ has??? Nice atmosphere but WAKE up Rockford unless you want to pay $$$ to taste teriyaki sauce…big disappointment.
Can’t miss. A real gem for the Rockford area. Went on a Wednesday night and the place was buzzing. Rather than wait for a table, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The baked Goat Cheese was great. We paired it with a nice Porter ( Five Forks has a nice selection of craft beer and spirits to compliment their wine selection). The blackened tuna was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with one of the seasonal IPA.The team at the bar were knowledgeable and engaging. A great experience in a world of pedestrian fare.
Yummy…. This is a friendly modified tapas restaurant. They do offer several of the popular hot and cold tapas you would know, but also offer some larger tapas type items as well. There are also full entrees, but we didn’t try them.I hope they begin to offer paella 😉 Seafood Paella with mussels and octopus ;)Good wine selection.Friendly wait staff and owner/manager.Nice relaxed decor.Would also be great for a larger group of friends to share tapas, wine and good company. It was a little pricey at $100 for two, but we did sample quite a bit of wine :)Definitely plan to return soon. One of the better tapas I have had outside of Chicago. It is a little hidden around the corner in the parking lot, but it is there…
Great dining experience. We love Five Forks. Randy and his staff do everything right. The tapas style menu offers multiple great items to suit every task. Where else can you pick your own wine from the shelves of the retail outlet, and pay the same price at your table (plus a modest corkage charge)? Or, let Randy (known as the Head Cork Dork) choose for you, which is does expertly. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and visit Five Forks.
Chicken Spinach Artichoke Flatbread. This was way worse than the Lean Cuisine chicken pizzas from the freezer case! No sauce at all. Was really disappointed in the overdone chicken that tasted worse than the cooked packages they sell in the grocery store for putting on salads. The only highlight of the evening was the company and the raspberry cosmo!
Best hummus tray in Rockford – better than Garret’s Cafe which is pretty good. And the flat bread pizzas are my wife and I’s favorites. Try them for lunch. We had appetizers to go for a party and they were great too. J-P Engelund
