Delicious Food, Sweet Owner. This is Caribbean comfort food at its best–delicious pea soup, juicy chicken, buttery fry bread, rich milk cake for dessert. The red snapper is healthy and scrumptious. The owner has the biggest sweetest heart. He welcomes every customer with grace & kindness. He let two kids play chess at one table and patiently taught a young apprentice the ropes while whipping up an inexpensive, lovely feast. Street parking is best if you want carryout. Park across the street at the Howard El stop if you want to stay awhile.
Tickie’s is a great restaurant with an authentic taste of Belizean food. I’d suggest trying the stew chicken with a side of black beans and handmade flour tortillas for breakfast with some coffee. Also definitely give the meat pies a try as they are the best in town.
I love there food it is so damn good. Worth every penny!!
