From the Italian beefs, to the burgers, to the French fries with cheese…this place has it all covered. People willingly wait in the double drive through line which could be at any point in time 20 cars deep for up to 45 minutes for their favorites.Their Chocolate cake is a Chicago staple (secret ingredient keeps it so moist) and I’ve just learned that their lemon cake and strawberry shortcakes are also a huge hit.If you’re visiting…you must stop by!!I won’t spoil it for everyone, if you want to know the secret ingredient, simply respond to this post.Enjoy!
Food, BYOB and Great music. Unbeatable Trio.. Great, reasonably priced food, something for everyone. My favorites are the Tamales and the Lomo Saltado. My Mom loves the green spaghetti with Shrimp. The Corvina (fish) is to die for. Add to that BYOB you can’t lose. The best comes when, on the last Sunday of every month there is live music by The North Shore Opera Hour. And no, it’s not all Opera. the do traditional Peruvian, Broadway, standards and some guest singers. Cesar, the owner is always gracious and attentive. I’m so thankful I was introduced to the restaurant, music and Cesar. Wonderful Dining experience for anyones pocektbook.
Cilantro Chicken with Rice and Vegetables Sopa. Big homemade cilantro based chicken and rice soap. Great taste. Tons of chicken. Perfect for a cold or hangover. Worth the trip.14 Feb, 2015Gem. Great hole in the wall find. Very authentic. Great tasting soups. Friendly staff.
Great food! Excellent paella, very moisty and tasty tamales, and fresh ceviche. To enjoy this place you have to think that you are not in the US. Think like you are taking vacations in Lima and you will be ok because the food is seriously good.
YOU MUST GO HERE!!!. Go here, bring a good bottle of wine or 2 and let them order for you!!!
A miserable experience!. My friend was visiting from Michigan. She calls me on her way and asks me to look up some Peruvian restuarant in Chicago.I find Taste of Peru and take her and her brother there for dinner. It was a miserable experience!1. We waited 1.5 hours for a table!!!2. The place is sooo small and tight and crowded, you don’t even feel like eating3. The order takes forever!!! And then another forever for the food to come out!!4. The owner was taking booze-trips across the street with his patrons every few minutes, instead of managing the restaurant!4. They hardly have anything vegetarian, their noodles and rice tasted more like bad Chinese and less like S.American food.5. My friend asked me to visit her at U Mich and taste what real peruvian food is!!Our entire dinner affair ended up being 3 hours long!!! And AWFUL!I think this is a place is not for vegetarians, and is for people who want to sit and drink their night away and crack up at stupid things with the owner!
