Nice restaurant. Building looks very 80s chic from the outside, and the inside is naturally well-lit and mostly quiet. The service is polite and curt. The food was good and the general restaurant was clean and quiet. The music played was mostly easy-listening and calming oldies. The only downside was that the owner’s young child (3 or 4) was running around the restaurant and climbing over chairs, occasionally stopping by customers and just looking at them. Restaurant is also somewhat expensive. If little children and an empty restaurant don’t bother you, then I recommend Penang.
Food was excellent and the service friendly. We loved the roti chani appetizer. The roti was fresh and the texture perfect for dipping. We had sizzling chicken – the black pepper accents great. Best dish was beef rendang with its coconut milk based sauce.
Horrible Service. We placed our order with the server. The server did not bother coming back to the table to check on us. He provided the 2 other tables with service but did not say a word to us after the order was placed. I had to call out to him to give us the tab. Not only did we receive horrible service but our order was incorrect. I wish I would have know that I would have received this type of service, I would have taken my business to another restaurant.I cannot believe that I was treated like this.
Great. This was one of my favorite restaurant experiences in a long while. The food is delicious and prepared well. I’ve been to Penang several times, and this restaurant definitely does the food justice!
Lemon grass over kill!!. First impressions were that the place was really nice. The service was great but the food was awful. Everything had massive amounts of lemon grass in it, we had to send back our entrees because of it. If you love lemon grass this is the place for you!! Skip this place and try Chef Ping up the street.
