First visit with a Groupon. Friendly staff and prompt service. Visited at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. Light crowd so we were seated right away. Beer! Great German beer on tap. Hubby had the Andechs dark yummy! Very smooth and hint of chocolate. I had the Weiss and it was good with hint of spice as it should be. Great place just for the beer!Started with the sausage app. Very tasty. Served with great Bavarian kraut. I ordered the German salad which has an assortment of dill cucumbers, 3 bean salad, pickled beats and tomatoes. Nice and refreshing with the right amount of vinegar. Hubby had soup of the day, it was homemade and delish. He ordered the jger schnitzel and I the ziguener schnitzel. Everything is homemade and you can tell! The schnitzel was pork and it was thick, juicy. You can tell its hand breaded fresh! The sptzle was light and wonderfulRed cabbage was great. Hubby had dumplings that were killer, more like stuffing but oh so good.Of course we had to try the cherry strudel and it too was very good! You can see the pride of the owners. The place is sparkling clean and wile a tad dated it adds to the charm.I think the price is about right for the freshness and quality of the food. Visit the hofbrau haus in Rosemont and you’ll pay twice the price and the food is just ok. Get a groupon and give this place a try. Go expecting huge plates of good hearty German food and great beer and you will have a great time.

Overpriced and mediocre at best. Not consumer friendly in the least.. Wife and I went there with a $30 groupon deal. Ordering was the first sign of ill will. We wanted the liver dumpling soup and there was no upcharge, you had to pay full price ala carte even though the price of the soup that came with the meal was the same. Two cokes at $2.25 each, but there was no free refills. I had the pork shank with German potatoes and red cabbage at $17.95 and I have to say it was very good. My wife had the breaded veal cutlet at 19.95 which was skimpy, one piece about the size of a small hamburger, edible but nothing special. After the meal I asked if they had any strudel(one of my favorite deserts and was surprised they had apple and blueberry. We ordered one blueberry to share and coffee. I’m not kidding when I say that was the worst strudel I’ve ever had in my life It was rather small,an inch slice about 4 inches wide and about an inch high and some whipped cream added to give it the appearance of value. The blueberry filling wasn’t even sweet and had the appearance and taste of gritty jello minus the sugar. Frozen toaster strudel is gourmet compared to what they serve..We couldn’t eat more than a bite each,it was that horrible. At least the portion was small, since it was going in garbage anyway. The tab came out to $69 and change. If you know what you’re ordering I guess it could be okay, but when you pay for coffee that you want to have with your strudel and the soup upgrade that brings the tab up another $20 you feel gypped. BTW,they didn’t offer to bring the soup that came with the meal either. I felt like the waitress who I believe was the owner should have told us how crappy the strudel was. With that last taste of being fleeced I don’t think I’d ever go back. Read less

Just like Oma’s house. Quaint restaurant with great German food. The service was wonderful and the food was hot, delicious and comforting. Would definitely come back again.

My wife and I went out to eat at Bavaria hof restaurant with the Groupon coupon 15$ for 30$ worth of food in Schaumburg il..I order the beef saurebraten. The beef was cut against the grain making the meat stringe the meat tasted old and wet most definitely the beef was heated in the steamer and was served with a little gravy and had no flavor very bland. The spaetzles also were heated in a steamer with no flavor. My wife ordered the Germans meatloaf and had a sponge like texture. The meatloaf was also heated up in the steamer killing the flavor and tasting very old not fresh like it should. Do not order anything that is pre _made it is frozen and pulled out thawed out and steamed and served. Is that what you want to eat ? The soup and the German salad was OK but they served 3 slices of very dry bread. The only thing good about this place is nothing. This place needs to be put on kitchen nightmares. For 0 being garbage to 10 being good I give this restaurant a -110. This place was not busy and for the reason with is true.

My family visited this place. We experienced rude service. We were mistreated and yelled on; our kids were scared and crying. Food was very bad, not seasoned overcooked and definitely not fresh. F minus food for the first class restaurant price. Place is dark and very dirty, serving dirty silver wear. Never again.

The worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The staff was rude and not helpful. My husband and I shared a dinner because prices were high. We were charged for an extra plate. My husband had a beer and we had to pay extra for it because they said alcohol not included in groupon. Our bill was $50 and we shared a meal!!! To many hidden charges, terrible services and so-so food. Definitely will not be going back!
