Used to be a favorite; as of June 9, 2014 I won’t be back.. This was a favorite neighborhood restaurant of mine in the 80’s and 90’s but I moved away and haven’t dined there in the past decade. I ordered my favorite Pollo en Mole and was disappointed in every way. At $14.95, they skimped on the chicken, serving a leg, thigh and unidentifiable chicken part (if that was a chicken breast the bird definitely should have opted for implants). The beans and rice were bland but fortunately, the portions for those items were very small as well. The presentation of the food was unappetizing and the service extremely slow. The flavor of the mole sauce was the only good part of the meal. With so many fine restaurants serving Mexican cuisine in Chicagoland, I will avoid dining at El Mason in the future.

More than $10 per entree though.06 Jul, 2010Great food. Enjoyed the fact that they offered two salsas. Server seemed tired or bothered.
