I don’t really understand what all the praise is about. This is one of the highest rated restaurants I’ve ever eaten at and I was not impressed. From the outside this is a restaurant I wouldn’t look twice at. The inside of the restaurant appears to be clean enough however. The menu is American style pub food. I ordered a few appetizers and an entree with friends. Everything seemed like it came straight out of the freezer. I guess it is possible we didn’t order the best they have to offer but based on the first try I likely never will.

I’m always a little nervous when I read reviews from locals that call this place the best place in town to eat. Well…..they were right. A-mazing food. Its bar food but so much more. The French Onion soup was delicious. The chicken mac and cheese was the best mac and cheese ever. I had the pot roast….so tender and yummy plus mashed potatos and gravy topped off the plate. You will not be disappointed.

The Village Tavern is one of our favorite local, independently owned restaurants. Whenever we go, basically everyone in our group orders the Chicken Tenders- either the dinner plate or the salad. Both are delicious options, with very tasty honey mustard sauce. Aside from the chicken tenders, Village Tavern has good French Onion soup, and an amazing looking nacho platter (it’s huge!). This place does get packed- especially for games. The owner is active on social media & he is always helping out when local disasters happen (example: he sent food after the tornadoes a few months ago). All in all, I’d recommend VTG to a friend, it’s worth a stop if you are in the area! stephsspot.com

Refusal of Service. A group of friends stopped in for a drink and something to eat on Saturday evening around 11:30…one of my friends saw an old friend sitting at the bar and ran up to say hello very excited, it had been about three years since they last saw each other. She was asked where we were coming from and she mentioned our staff Christmas Party and upon that the bartender NIKKI refused to serve her, stating she was intoxicated….I can attest she was not INTOXICATED (I am a 63 year old female), just because we were at a staff party does not mean everyone there had been drunk or intoxicated…YOUR bartender who supposedly has been working there for 21 years has lost her good judgement….because there were several people sitting at the bar who could not even eat properly as they were so intoxicated and she continued to serve them alcohol and shots. Also in the past I have been on lunch with these same friends and watch as they served a bunch of OLD men who were intoxicated and they began to serenade my young so-workers who the bartender seems to think they were funny and continued to by the elderly men drinks….So therefore we will NO longer be frequenting you establishment and we will continue to write unsatisfactory reviews on it. OH I will be there NEW YEARS EVE watching your bartenders serve very intoxicated customers come and go

Good quantity but… The quantity of the food is well but the quality is not there and the prices are high for the service and atmosphere

Cheesesteak Hoagies Are EXCELLENT!!!. We have been here now 3 times. The first time didn’t like it at all, and wasn’t going to try again. Then I had the cheesesteak hoagie with the American cheese…it was soooooo good. My husband did not like they fish at all, he said it didn’t have any seasoning on it. We did not like the appetizer also we had the sampler everything was either tasteless or greasy. The chicken fingers although was good we would order them again. So far the nachos, chicken fingers, and cheesesteak hoagies are delicious. Also the cheesecake egg rolls are to die for. The only place besides Village Tavern who make them are Pilot Petes.
