Great visit. The ambiance is pleasant, many nautical items to look at and appreciate without appearing to try too hard or be cheesy. I wanted to roam around the restaurant and take it all in, but I resisted. The staff is very polite and efficient, friendly, well groomed, helpful. We had a party of 6 (two kids) and our check without appetizers or dessert, no alcohol, came to just under $100.00, and for the price on some of the dishes, I feel the portion could’ve been more generous. The meal was delicious. I would come back, but only on special occasions due to the cost.29 Mar, 2015Bread With Honey Butter. Beginner bread. Crust was flaky and not too hard, the inside was very soft. Excellent bread.29 Mar, 2015Sausage Ravioli. The sausage seemed to be breakfast sausage, which was off putting.29 Mar, 2015Crab Stuffed Cod. Very good! I was sad when the last bite was done, would have been able to eat two!29 Mar, 2015Fried Chicken Fillet (Kid’s Menu). Good portion for a small kids29 Mar, 2015Sirloin And Shrimp. The steak was flavorless and too dry.29 Mar, 2015Crab Stuffed Cod. Served with a side salad, single hushpuppy, and potato option, the crab stuffed cod is full of flavor and oozing with mozzarella. Delicious.
Located in an old turn of the century house, this restaurant is a throw back to former times: a classic setting, a varied menu, reasonable prices, and an experienced and attentive wait staff. The meals come with a salad(add a cup of their fantastic clam chowder), a loaf of their hot homemade bread and honey butter) and a side. Their early dinner offerings were great(I had the whole channel cat for $9!). My wife had the lobster and shrimp combo. A found treasure in Springfield!!!
First time here. Ordered the lobster and shrimp combo. I chose fried lobster and it was to die for. The shrimp was ok nothing outstanding. Au gratin potatoes were excellent. Was supposed to have a choice on shrimp but wasn’t asked and didn’t think about it until too late. Their house sweet and sour salad dressing is good too.
Great Seafood and Steak. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years now—-first time was the evening of our wedding!! The dining room used to be a bit more formal, but is now more casual, so anyone should feel comfortable going there for dinner. We absolutely love the menu options and usually order seafood platters. Service is almost always excellent. I would recommend reservations for dinner as Chesapeake can get pretty crowded any night of the week! Older kids would probably be fine here, but I wouldn’t recommend if you are bringing little ones. My husband and I usually go here for special occasions or for a special dinner for the two of us.
Good food.
Fine Thanksgiving Buffet.. Great food! The place was packed on Thanksgiving Day. I would definitely recommend reservations. Very unique ambiance. Staff was friendly and helpful. Thanks!
Good buffet. We tried their lunch buffet because we didn’t have much time. It was very good. It has the feel of the older restaurants we went to when we were younger. It feels like a step back in time to me, an enjoyable one. Nice selection and good price and service. The desserts could be better with more variety but hey you’re full after the buffet anyway! We will definitely go badk!
