With all the people working there I would’ve thought the service would’ve been better. There were two or three people standing behind the counter and when we asked for some help they walked back into the bakery. The poor frustrated, untrained young lady that was trying to man the deli counter didn’t have a handle on what she was doing. The food was marginal at best, prices were kinda high. When I went to pay for my food the girls and guys at the registers were more interested in their personal conversations than inexpedient professional service. After I ate my fried chicken my wife and I thought about a piece of pie for dessert. I went back to the counter where the young lady was working and she was obviously overwhelmed with customers. There was a gentleman standing by the meats and I asked him for some assistance and he politely informed me that was not his area. We didn’t get the pie……
Horrible. Where to begin. The floor was dirty with a lot of crumbs that should have been cleaned up throughout the day. We had 5 different people wait on us because they couldn’t seem to keep track of who helped us. This made for slow and impersonal service. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo carbonara with chicken and asparagus. It was $15. There was no salad included. It came with a roll that was not given to me. When I finally flagged down a waitress, she brought me a stale (like a rock) cold roll. The portion that I was served is what I would consider a lunch size. For $15, I expected a good sized bowl. The sauce was soupy and the asparagus woody. The noodles were linguini not fettuccine. The chicken was tender. Since we couldn’t seem to hang onto a server, I had to again wave someone down for a drink refill. Awful!!! Save yourself a bad experience and go to the Olive Garden instead. At least there you will get a salad, soft breadsticks, and a big bowl of pasta.
I love hy vee but the market grill is very slow with getting food out. We have kids, and won’t come anymore because if the wait after ordering. This isn’t a chance thing, it’s every time and I’ve eaten breakfast here a dozen times or more.
