Indigo is the best restaurant in town. Fine dinning at its best you can’t beat the food service and ambience. Other restaurants try and copy the menu but you can’t beat the best. Always excited to see what is new on the menu and the wine list is very extensive.
Couple from DC. So my husband and I moved from DC and having spoken with our neighbors about Springfield restaurants they recommended Indigo. Not realizing that we had talked so long about the place we forgot to make a reservation. We decided to show up anyway on a late Thursday evening and to our dismay it was BUSY…. The hostess greeted us warmly and to our surprise we were seated immediately. Started with some appetizers – dates and the house recommended deviled eggs – a must try!! We then sampled the Blue Point Oysters – in Springfield, IL? Really? They were superb!! My husband ordered the Filet Mignon which he was able to cut with a fork! I had the Chilean Sea Bass – mouthwatering…. Since our first encounter we make it a point to go 2 – 3 times a week!!! Springfield’s Diamond for sure!
Great Food! I enjoy the atmosphere at Indigo and they have great entrees. Steaks are wonderful and always prepared exactly to order. My fav entree is the scallops. Great app as well. I notice some other reviews mention the sushi. I don’t go to indigo for sushi. In fact real sushi lovers don’t eat sushi in Springfield.
Well…I’m not sure what to say about Indigo. I had been there previously for drinks and dessert and things seemed okay. I had dinner there the first time this week. The service was SLOW! Our server was very pleasant, but she was overwhelmed with other duties and lacked attention and seemed disinterested. The food was mediocre at best. I had the sushi…go to Pao or Osaka – they do a much better job with sushi. My friend had the lobster Mac and cheese. There really wasn’t any cheese…it tasted mostly like plain noodles with a hint of cheese, some bread crumbs, and a few chunks of lobster. Save you money and time and go elsewhere for dinner…indigo is good for drinks and dessert, but I won’t bother with dinner there again.
Better Sushi Elsewhere. In my opinon, Indigo doesn’t live up to the hype.As good as the food may be, it’s not great, and certainly not worth the price. While stellar sushi is indeed worth splurging on, I have had better sushi even in Springfield, and for much better prices (check out Hunan and PAO). While the sushi seems fresh, it only tastes decent, and the sushi chef does a poor job of crafting the actual sushi, as pieces are often oversized, making it nearly impossible to eat in one bite (as they should be).I don’t recall what the other menu offerings are like, but if they’re anything like Indigo’s sushi, save your money and go elsewhere.
Quirky decor, relaxed atmosphere courteous service. Sushi is average. Seared ahi tuna was perfect. Take time, go with a group and don’t order oysters.
