I went here when we were on Devon Avenue and they are not really best for Indian food place. It is vegetarian is the only criteria. The food was not really tasty or would not really recommend to others. The service is slow and nothing very appealing about this restaurant.
Awful. The food was stale and we didnt want to eat it beyond couple of bites. Trust me, I m Executive who eats outside every day and travel the world and also of Indian origin. I walked in to this place and realized after eating couple of bites, that the food was stale and awful. The manager Rosa was so belligerent and offensive, that I m surprised a restaurant like this is even allowed by City of Chicago to function. She demanded that we pay for the stale food, even though we didn’t eat any of it, as we only tasted couple of bites and realized it was stale. We went to another restaurant a block from this awful place and ate good food. Another tell tale sign about this restaurant, which I only realized later. We waited for 40 minutes for our food here and there were no other customers. Tada…. Must have realized. At the other place, we were there for 30 minutes and saw atleast 20+ customers come in. City of Chicago, please shut this place down.
In the meat filled, over spiced and greased madness of Indian / Pakistani restaurants in the Devon area , this one is a island of calm .A family run , pure vegetarian place , serving mild and light but highly delicious vegetarian Indian food , great service and a nice value lunch buffet too . Though they do mostly North Indian dishes , even there south Indian Idly / Dosa is quite nice .So when you ready to flush out all the spice from your system and detox , Arya Bhawan is a nice place to dine at .Highly recommended .ENJOY thefoodgypsy.co
Delicious Vegan. Arya Bhavan has a delicious vegan buffet on the weekends. We tried the buffet for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Everything was amazing. There was not one item that I disliked. Since then, we have been back 2 times ( within the span of a month). If you appreciate good vegan foods, it give it a try. (Husband) I’m a meat eater and at times we find it somewhat difficult to find a happy compromise. I was a little apprehensive at first, and somewhat skeptical of Vegan food but OMG!…… THIS IS IT FOLKS!!!!!! At last a place where everyone can dine ,albeit Vegan,Vegetarian ,or Omnivore Even though the Menu is Vegan…. you will find the most flavorful and exciting Vegan food around. I Love it as much as my Vegan wife. Check Groupon to grab a first timers discount on literally the Best Vegan food around! I found out that they have an option of having your weekly dinners prepared for you in a healthy delicious way, which is so much cheaper than trying weekly dinners yourself. Try it and I promise you won’t be disappointed!!!!!
Had better!!. As much as I appreciate the effort put in this place I have to say it was a bad experience. The service was bad ,the food was worse. It gave me a very unbalanced feeling just to be there. The staff had no courtsey, the word hospitality has nothing to do with them. One of the items on the buffet had gone bad(spoiled). The desserts were definitely made there but had no touch of authenticity. Also overpriced.I will definitely not be going back.
