The Best Eastern Europe’s Hidden Gem in Chicago. Let’s be real they are only a handful of places I recommend you wait if they haven’t opened for the day but this is one of those places! We arrived about an hour before they opened for the day but decided to stick around and took a walk through the neighborhood because you should never pass up a restaurant named Chocolate! The very first thing that caught my eye the minute I stepped into the door of Shokolad was the oreshki (walnut shaped cookies filled with reduced sweetened condensed milk) and smell of fresh espresso. The menu was just as impressive as the display case we ordered the raspberry crepes (fresh raspberries in warm crepes garnished with whipped cream), cherry varenky (sour cherry filled pirogies), and pelmini (small meat filled dumplings served with vinegar). The food here was simply out of this world!
