The food was great but the service wasn’t where it should have been. The waitress was short with us and a tad rude. The gentleman that was helping out with drinks and such was super friendly though. But the main waitress needs some better manorisms with her customers. Overall it was a good dinner and we will be returning!
Disappointment. We were disappointed in the service , feeling of a family own business In pure chaos , under staffed for a Friday crowd , we had more than. 3 servers waiting on 2 of us , staff walked by while trying to take your order – advice for staff : stop at a table and give your complete attention to that guest in that monent , then address your next table – food portions were very small for price , and desert was what they claimed as a in house baked chocolate cake that was so dry I would have thought a child bake it – total disappointment – we will not be back !
After reading previous reviews about Donatellos, I was reluctant to give it a try. Because we had such a good experience, I decided to write this review. Adam was our waiter. He was attentive and helpful. The wine and food were delicious and everyone had a great time in our party if 4!
Crazy Owner. It was my 30th high school reunion, so my husband and I and another couple decided to have dinner before the reunion. This was all our first time eating at Donatello’s. Our waitress, the owner, was very rude and put out by any request we made. The food was Ok, nothing special. We got the check, which was all together. We asked to have it separated. She said she could split it or would have to re-ring it, we said yes, please do that. She stormed off, very rudely. The table next to us, said that is just the way she is, we only come here for the food!! We decided to leave a 10 percent tip, because of her demeanor. I was confronted in the middle of the restaurant with everyone watching!!! I told her she was rude and very unprofessional. She said she was the owner and that we were banned from the restaurant!!! She then follows me outside where my husband and friends are waiting and starts to yell at them. Waitress 101, you always ask if this will be on one or two checks!!! This woman should not be waiting tables and needs to be on some Meds!!!!
Went for dinner and split 2 dishes and the chefs choice (side of pasta) with 3 people and it was more than enough food. The homemade dressings were great and all of the pasta dishes were awesome. The chicken Marsala had a wonderful sweet glaze and the chefs choice sauce with olives, carpers and tomatoes was also VERY good. The pesto penne was Ok but kind of dry. We all really enjoyed this cute little place and the staff was very friendly! Enjoy 🙂
Lunch at donatello’s. Love this gem -an independent restaurant in Carmel’s Art & Design district.I have had salads and the Chicken Piccata which was wonderful!!! I will be back to sample more of their dishes!
We Expected More. First off let me say that I love Italian food. I’ve had Italian food at all levels and price points. So here are my opinions on Donatello’s restaurant. We ordered the gorgonzola ravioli. We liked it so we thought the place might be promising. My wife and I decided on what we wanted for our entrees. The waitress came back and took our order. It was then that she informed us that they were out of shrimp. They substituted chicken for my wife’s dish. I picked a different dish that had chicken in it. Twenty minutes later a couple were seated at a table beside us. They ordered appetizers. The owners came out and talked to them. It was obvious that they knew them. Not a big deal. A few minutes later the waitress came out and apologized for our meal taking so long. She said that it was because they had to reset between the first and second dinner crowds. After a hour of waiting our meal finally arrived. A couple minutes later our neighbors meals came also. Which seemed strange since we had ordered our meals before they ordered their appetizers! My wife’s dish was quite bland not a lot of flavor. My dish was average. For the price and quality of food you would be better off to save some money and go to Olive Garden. The atmosphere was very noisy. Something you wouldn’t expect at this price level.
