Good food. but got an attitude from server. The food was really good and honestly the only reason i still come. However it seems the service seems to be going down hill. Feb. 7th, 2015 2:57pm I litterlly just got in an argument with the male server who believes i ordered chicken, instead of steak for my taco trio. Told me i was wrong when the table behind me even confirmed. How disrespectful. How blatantly rude. Regardless i could rant for a thousand more charecters about this servers piss-poor imitation of what it means to wait tables. Bottom line you NEVER argue with a customer.

Solid. Friendly Atmosphere. Great Authentic Mexican Cuisine.. Fernando and his wife are wonderful people (owners). The food is solid. My personal favorites are the Tacos El Pastor and the Southwest Chicken Salad. The servers and atmosphere is fun and friendly. Every time I eat here I feel like I’m on vacation
First Visit – Extremely Impressed. We had dinner last Friday night at El Cantarito and wasn’t sure what to expect. We have a mailbox next door at the UPS store and never seemed to get over that way when they were open. So Friday night we decided to give it a try, wow were we impressed!We were greeted immediately by the most polite hostess I’ve ever met that later turned out to be our waiter. Absolutely perfect mannerisms and perfect timing for refilling drinks, checking on the meal and bringing the desert menu. This type of service you only expect from $$$$$ restaurants. Now about the food. Wow, my girlfriend had the shrimp tacos and said they were the best she ever had. I ordered the El Cantarito Burrito and can honestly say it was the best burrito I’ve ever had. The presentation with avocado slices on top of the cheese sauce was something I should have snapped a picture of – it was amazing. The flavor was as good as the presentation. The pricing is as perfect as the wait staff and food. My girlfriend and I had dinner, 3 margaritas and desert for under $50 taking home enough leftovers for another meal. We’ll definitely be back and bringing our friends.
Easily the best Mexican food in Chesterton. Everything I’ve tried on their menu is absolutely exceptional. Wonderful atmosphere, great service, reasonable prices, large portions. All around awesome place. The carnitas are the best I’ve ever had..
Great Atmosphere!. I love the contemporary vibe at El Cantarito. You get a lot of options for sides (beyond the usual rice and beans) – and the Spanish rice is excellent!!
Delicious Authentic Mexican Food!. I loved the food! To Try: authentic Mexican street tacos with carnitas pork, cilantro, & onion; pork & pineapple tostadas; whole beans. The fresh cilantro and onions were perfect on the tacos and tostadas! And, everything was reasonably priced. Service was good, too.
