Love this place. Converse is a fabulous little town for Midwestern foodies and Jefferson St. BBQ is one of our families local favs! The brisket, blue wedge salad, and nachos are a must try. Service depends on the server you get (explanation for the 4.5 rating) but the food is more than worthy. Mmm mmm…
Tables for 6. We arrived at 5:45. There was a two top and a four top pushed together. There was no other seating available. We pointed out 2 were seated next to it which was a table of 6 also. We 2 asked if we might sit there, and hostess said policy was only 6 there. We waited 10 more minutes. When we came out, there were 2…I said 2 people eating there. And besides that we waited a half hour to get our food. Not good policy!

FANTASTIC!!. Some of the best BBQ I have had. Pulled pork is fabulous. The jalapeno cornbread is absolutely amazing. The Italian dressing for the salad is obviously homemade. The sausage is great. There were 3 of us, and we tired almost half of the menu–no one had something they did not like. Highly recommended!!
Tried to visit around Christmas, closed for remodeling… Understandable. Went last night to finally check it out. They were out of the two main items we had driven for. Our waitress was terrible, never checking on us. We had to flag down the poor cook (who was running all the food) to recieve items that had been forgotten. Food was okay. Maybe we’ll call ahead next time to see what they’re out of. Several other tables around asked this as soon as they were seated. Seems to be a common occurance.
Awesome homestyle food. During a recent visit to my Indiana home, my family took me to lunch in Converse, Indiana at the Jefferson St. BBQ. We parked on the side street and followed our noses.The menu is filled with excellent choices. We all tried something different and NO ONE was disappointed. The pork is excellent, the chicken salad is awesome and the white bean chicken chili is TO DIE FOR!!!Don’t miss a chance to indulge yourself at this fabulous find in quaint little Converse.
