Handled a group of 40 Army Soldiers like a boss. My Battalion I’m in recently had a small staff ride to the only Civil War battlefield in Indiana, Corydon. So early in the morning, about 40 Soldiers drove down in vans from Camp Atterbury and met our tourguide at Frederick’s Cafe for a late lunch before the start of our day. At first, I wondered if the wait staff had even been warned that such a large group was coming because their eyes seemed to bulge out of their heads when they saw one after another of us coming in. But then they eventually settled into a grove and started taking orders. Kudos for the kitchen on pumping out the orders really fast, too.First thing’s first. The pancake really is the size of your head. Everyone who ate it was in agony during the walking sessions of the battlefield tour because it probably swelled up to the size of a Nerf football in their stomachs. Rumor has it, the pancake can absorb an entire bottle of syrup and then double as a rag to clean the countertops. But I didn’t get the pancake, i got the breaded tenderloin breakfast sandwich which was supposed to have an egg on top. Well, that’s what I ordered at least, that’s not what came out. What came out was an unbreaded tenderloin and two eggs on the side (at least they were the over-medium like I asked) and no sandwich. Oh well, my waistline was probably happier that way. The breakfast was filling and seemed to be a good value and everyone left Frederick’s with good things to say. I would recommend this place to anybody who is coming in from out of town and wants to eat real food in a place owned by locals, not some crappy chain just up the road.
Amazing. I have been here for lunch and breakfast several times. I do not think anything has really disappointed me. I’m not a fan of the pancake, but to be that big it has to be dense and I prefer light pancakes. Other than that it’s all awesome! The biscuits and gravy taste just like my momma’s and the eggs are always cooked perfectly. Great coffee! The chicken salad sandwich is great and so are the burgers!! I absolutely love their fries as well!!
When they say home made it IS .Staff awesome and attentive.I will definately stop back when I am in Corydon
Menu says homecooked. They are telling truth. Biscuits and gravy are down to earth home cooked. Home fries are delicious. Highly Recommend. Glad I found this place. A thousand Stars.
Quaint, quiet, and FABULOUS FOOD. servers were attentive and nice and the food was hot and fresh. If I’m ever back in town, I’ll definitely stop by!
Best breakfast I have had in a while. Gravy is awesome…hashbrowns are the best…nice and crunchy…
