I have been here twice due to work travels. Both times AMAZING!! I have a high standard of food quality and this place ranks in the top 2 best restaurant in Elkhart.
We really enjoyed our experience at McCarthy’s. When we walked in the hostess was very friendly. The resteraunt is really nice and the food prices were good for not only the amount but also the quality of the food. They have wonderful salmon and the Louisiana Pasta was to die for (both in which our server reccommended). The service was exquisite!! I definately will come back and I reccommend other to dine there!!!
Laughably Bad. Service was terrible, only outdone by the even more terrible quality of the food. Why this locale would organize their wait staff so that one waiter (ours) had to deal with multiple ten tops and numerous smaller tables, I have no idea. Why the wait staff doesn’t help each other out, again, I have no idea. But more importantly, why a trained chef would ever produce two different pasta dishes drenched in oil, with overcooked vegetables (and the broccoli seemingly put through a chipper), topped not with grated parmesan or romano cheese but with fried cheesy breadcrumbs, again, I have no idea. Or rather I do–he/she has no taste buds whatsoever. The pasta wasn’t even good as a strange au gratin–it was just bad. The third entree we ordered was a seafood salad with avocado. Chopped iceberg lettuce? Over-boiled shrimp and scallops? The only thing good about the salad was the red onion, which someone managed to slice relatively close in time to the piling up of the salad. Maybe this place is ok for burgers and steaks–but then again, I doubt it. I always thought the pasta dishes were the easiest things to turn out reasonably well…. Hey, I have a novel idea for the chef: try to make the final dish look a little like the ingredients that go into it…. with green vegetables looking green, red ones reasonably red, etc. And step away from the cheesy breadcrumbs.
McCarthy’s Dinner. My wife and I had dinner at McCarthy’s last week and we had a great dinner. Steak & Salmon were cooked perfect. I would highly recommend going to Mccarthy’s
Nicole was my server and she was excellent. Great ham and bean soup. Very good burger. Wonderful bread pudding. Great local eatery. I would go back in a heartbeat.
