Just returned Evansville after being gone for almost 10 yrs. A friend and I went here early on a Friday night right before Xmas. We were first seated directly to the right when you enter – basically next to the bar. A half wall separates the two areas. Before we even ordered, we asked to be moved because the bartender’s voice was so loud. We ordered a variety of things to share and cocktails. I can honestly say, the best thing about the meal was my drink. The food quality is no longer what it once was. Wasn’t even appetizing to the eye. Waitress was attentive-she looked like a seasoned pro. Will not return anytime soon!

Tried this for the first time tonight and I was a little worried with the mixed reviews I had read here. I was pleasantly surprised. We had the Big Fat Greek Meal with three entrees and added a third appetizer. The flaming cheese appetizer is pretty good. You could definitely taste the brandy. We also had the tzazikhi was awesome as were the stuffed mushrooms. The Greek salad that came with the meal was good. Would have liked a few more olives and red onions instead of white. Entrees – we had lamb ribs, chicken lemonata, and stifado. I did not care for the lamb. I typically like gamey meat, but I did not care for this lamb. The stifado was good. Great flavor, but some of the pieces of beef were tough and it could have used more sauce. The chicken lemonata was to die for. I will order that again and again. Best part about this restaurant is the number of gluten free options. I was very impressed. My whole family is allergic and we had plenty to choose from. The only disappointment is we could not have dessert that was included with the meal, because there were no gluten free options. That would have made it exceptional. All in all we were pleased and left happy. Definitely will go back again.

Delicious. I wish I could have added more pictures, but when the food came out I immediately dug in. I ordered family style, with dolmades (delicious) and waleeds shrimp for appetizers. The Greek salad after was awesome. Then came the lamb ribs with chicken gorgonzalo pasta. Heavenly. Before the dessert, but before a half bottle of wine, my girlfriend and I HAD to take a smoke break. After the break, we finished the dessert, as well as complementary pita bread. And all for $37. Great deal, excellent food, and fantastic service. One of my favorite places in town.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Evansville. You can usually get a table easily and all the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable for the food you get. Any of the Greek classic dishes are worth a try.

Good authentic Greek food prepared by people who know Greek food! Excellent food, will come back again and again! The person who seated us was a little rude, but once we got to our seats, we had an excellent experience.

Tuesday April 7, 2015 The Tasters visited theAcropolis Restaurant in Evansville, IN. Executive Chef/Owner Doros Hadjisavva created a specialTasting menu for our visit. Our dinner was served family style. ServersCassandra and Emily did an outstanding job. We started witha traditional Hummus and Tsatzik dips served with fresh and fried pita bread. The Hummus is a chic pea mixture it was very tasty. The Tzatziki is a garlicfilled yogurt and cucumber dip. The dips and pita bread were served with MarinatedMushrooms in wine and coriander, a perfect start to the meal. Most of theTasters enjoyed wine from the Acropoliss extensive wine selection and somedrank from the choices of Mediterranean Beers. We were served individual HoriatikiSalad, a Greek village salad. The salads were fresh and crisp with light oiland vinegar dressing. The mint leaves were a pleasant addition to the greens. The entreeswere Ttavas, a baked pork with cumin, potatoes and veggies which was seasonedperfectly and the pork very tender. A Lamb Yiouvetsi, which is braised lamb withorzo. A dish of Sheftalies which is a traditional and tasty Cypriot Sausagewrapped in caul fat. The sausage was well received. We also had a chance tosample Fried Smelts. The smelts were not one of the favorites of the Tasters, but nice to try as fried smelts are a traditional food for Chef DorosHadjisavva child hood home in Voroklini, Cyprus. We were also served BakedOregano Chicken which was outstanding and certainly the favorite of most of theTasters. We finished upthe meal with tasting samples of assorted Greek Desserts. Of course we sampledthe Baklava, a Mediterranean sweet layered pastry with chopped nuts and honey. All this was served in the second floor banquet room for a great price of $35 aperson (not including wine & beer.) The Tasters rate on Atmosphere, Food,Drinks, Service, and Over All Experience. The Acropolis Restaurant inEvansville was rated 25 out of 25 points. Well Done!!!!
