Had dinner tonight and really enjoyed it. I had the lasagna and side salad and my wife had the ravioli with salad. Both of us thought our meals were good. The sauce was very sweet and could have used a little kick.
My family has been coming here for years, and they’ve actually even improved in the last several. The bread basket is really good now. It used to be hard garlic toast. The fettuccine alfredo has always been my family’s favorite. The sauce is delicious. They also have a pasta dish with roasted vegetables and just an olive sauce that is great. My dad lives their clam linguini.
Seriously Good Food.. Best Eggplant Parmesan in town. Best Shrimp Scampi in the Midwest. And the Best Fettuccine Alfredo in the world. Seriously good food! Seriously! I’ve eaten at Italian Restaurants from Maine to California, Washington to Florida, and Diligge’s ranks amongst the very best. Evansville is lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber. Unimpressed & Rude Staff. After being told by several people Dilegge’s was the best Italian restaurant in EVV, I decided to try it.The dining area was small and dark. Our table wobbled and the Christmas decor in late January was off putting.The waitstaff was terrible. We were the only diners for a large portion of our meal and the waitstaff stood around, talking loudly, and doing impressions (they weren’t even good). Any time we asked for service (it really wasn’t offered), it seemed as though we were annoying the staff. The food was awful. I had the eggplant parmesan. The eggplant was under-cooked, over-sauced, and the cheese was fake. They also don’t include a pasta, which is awful, especially because one of my companions had the veal parmesan and was given pasta (which was over-cooked). His veal was tough and had no flavor. Our third friend had the lasagne and loved it. The portion she received was enormous and that was a great value. The parmesan dishes were waaaay over-priced, considering quantity, quality, and presentation. There was an over abundance of sauce on all dishes, which detracted from the food, as the sauce was not good. We also had the ravioli appetizer and they were delicious (if obviously frozen and reheated).Arguably the most upsetting issue with DR occurred as we were leaving. One of my companions has a difficult time walking due to cancer and as he was walking out (admittedly slowly), the host brushed passed him to seat other diners (who also pushed passed, actually knocking him off balance).This was humiliating for him, as he tries to not slow down other people. Anyone with sense or manners would have slowed down and waited, but apparently the host was too busy/ rude/ impatient to wait. We have no plans to ever return.
