My family of six were there for the Easter Buffet this past Sunday 2015 and I was shocked at how dirty the place was, the table top was sticky, and the Buffet food was not a that good, aside from a very sma selection they kept running out of all the popular items. I was not impressed by the $17.00 each either. I would have to think long and hard to ever go back again on a Sunday. Not pleased in any way.

The Tasters visit the Hornet’s Nest Restaurant. April 23, 2014 the Tasters group visits the Hornets Nest Restaurant. Our group was 15 Tasters; we sat in the family room side of the restaurant/bar. We arranged for a Hornets Nest favorite, a large order of onion rings, to be brought out with our drinks before we ordered our dinners. The service was good and they seemed truly interested in how our food was prepared. The onion rings were very good, crisp and tasty. Their reputation for the best onion rings in town is worthy. The dinner special the night we visited was a half chicken with sides for $10. Several of our group took advantage of that. Most thought the fried chicken was tasty and fresh…others thought it was over cooked and seemed like it had a double dip in the fryer. One ordered another local favorite, the fried catfish fiddler dinner and was very pleased. She thought it was prepared well but wasnt sure she would order it again, a little too greasy. Those who ordered the steaks were happily surprised with their dinners. The filet mignon was an excellent cut, both the small and larger, and prepared as ordered. The sides were good but your basic tavern fare. Everyone who ordered a steak thought is was fantastic. So the onion rings and steaks are worthy of a visit. A short drive to Earl, Indiana on the north side of Evansville the Hornet’s Nest has the feel of a local neighborhood bar. The atmosphere was blas, without a clear indication of a decorative theme; however, some liked the lack of food chain style. It was clean, and the service was good. Overall we had a good experience at the Hornets Nest Restaurant. The Tasters gave it a rating of 18 points out of a possible 25 points.

Waiting long. Went to Hornets nest for fathers day at 2.45 reservations. Was ask to wait while table was set for 11 people. 30 minutes later we was able to sit ( funny only 2 other couples were there) Waited a hour for our food 6 of us had terrible food the other 5 said it was good. Will I go back doubtful

Chicken Rockefeller sounded good, tasted even better. Had not been to Hornet’s Nest in years. Looking forward to next visit.

Food is always delicious here – especially love their fried chicken. Great north side restaurant.

Had not been here since moving away years ago. It is comfortably familiar and the pork tenderloin is great.

My family goes at least once a month for Sunday brunch. Food is very good and fresh tasting. There are times I’ve gone and had some questionable results on an omelette or something but for the most part, its good. Steaks are pretty good as well.
