Delicious sushi, loved the beef bulgogi, and the tempura zucchini appetizer was really good. The service was excellent even though the restaurant was very busy. It is a small place with an energetic atmosphere. A very good craft beer list, unusual for an Asian restaurant. And four sake choices. We tried it because we love CKB, in Henderson, KY (same owner) and we’ll be back. We found the staff to be very friendly.
We had good service, decent food. But the place is too small and cramped. The food is overpriced. For a cheaper meal with food just as good, there are other places in town to visit.
Rude owner… Crappy food… Dishonest people…
The sushi was okay, but I have eaten there twice and was completely disappointed by the food both times. First, bulgogi without banchan or even kimchi? What?! Long grain white rice! What?! Over cooked dry sesame chicken! Yuck. The miso soup is good and salad was okay. The atmosphere is terrible. The restaurant is small and so loud you can’t here the people at your table. I spent the last attempt at this poorly thought out restaurant listening to the horrible cackling of a women a few tables over. It’s not worth returning.
Big artistic thumbs up.. I have eaten at Kanpai since jason took over-and have never had a bad experience. As a free-lance writer, it is a great place to write, watch and interact with other customers and staff, and is laid back as well. Food is excellent, and the staff will do whatever it takes to make your experience what you need. To go drinks, menu suggestions, etc. Whether I have a quick 20 minutes to eat, or an afternoon to sit and work, I always feel welcomed, unrushed, and leave feeling better than when I arrive. A jewel in Evansville for sure.
Best Sushi in Evansville. The sushi is amazing! And I can’t go with out getting an order of Crab Rangoon. Seriously the best I have ever had. However if your in a hurry I suggest ordering carry out. Its much more time efficient.
At at Kanpai tonight. As usual the good was tasty and the service was great also. My favorites are the egg rolls and crab rangoons. I had lettuce wraps today. The portion size was generous and full of flavor. Every time I have eaten there has been great!!!
